As I sat on the ledge of the canyon, I thought that it would be a good time to examine my newly used wings.

"Maybe they were always there. Maybe I just didn't know how to use them," I said, trying to comfort myself.

It was when checked my injured paw that I realized my wings had never been on my back before that leap across the canyon.

It had been 5 days since I leapt off the edge of the canyon. I had checked my injured paw on day 1, and it had still astonished me on the fifth day. My paw had absolutely NO marks. It didn't hurt anymore, and it was like I had healed myself somehow.

I realized that something was wrong with me. My wings were still upon my back, but I wouldn't dare to ever try using them again. I had been huddled underneath a small cave. It was quite cramped, but fine with me. Checking my surroundings proved to be pretty hard. All that surrounded me was sand and dead bushes, with the exception of a few scattered trees and rocks.

At the fifth day, a stranger unknown and unseen started coming around. It was almost as big as me, and SUPER strong. I saw it uproot a 10 year old oak tree once! The creature was always hiding in places I could not identify. It would use camouflage, dig underground, and even hide behind plants just to not be discovered. Soon, I knew that I had to do something about this imposter.

I found some dead tree roots and got to work. The plan was to capture this beast, whatever it may be. I set some bait for the creature, and made a lever so that when it got the bait, a net of roots would come down on it, trapping it. It took 5 hours to catch the thing. 5 long, boring hours spent hiding and watching for the creature to take the bait.

Finally, I heard something snap. I crept over to it cautiously, trying not to alarm it. It did not make any noise. Instead, it  just tried to wriggle free of its bonds.

After a few minutes had passed, I decided to see what I had captured. Slowly and carefully, I crept toward the trap, careful of the long claws coming at me from the holes between the roots. I grabbed a hold of one of the roots, pulled hard, and screamed.

"Hi! Do you know where Black Birch forest is by chance?" said a slightly raspy voice.
