A Chance

chapter 7

Jared was lieing and there was nothing i could do about it. I try and confront him, but he just brushes it off. I had no energy left he was still coming home latefrom the office or so he claimed. He was always going out with his buddys at all hours of the night.i didnt even feel married anymore i honestly felt like his mother.
"Mommy my tummy hurts." Neko came waddling in my room.
"Come on baby you can lay with mommy till daddy gets home from  work." I picked neko up and set him on the bed he crawled into jareds spot and snuggled up next to me.
"Mommy how come daddys never home?" Neko looked at me i could hear the break in his voice.
"Baby daddys is very busy at work." I didn't want to go into details without upsetting him. He was still too young to understand.
"Okay love you."
"Love you too."
   The sun was shining bright when i woke up. I knew jared hadn't come in the room last night because neko was still sleeing next to me. I slowly climbed out of bed carefully not to wake neko.
"Jared babe, can i come in? "I opened the door and looked at the neatly made bed. He hadnt come home last night, weird. I dialed his number i dialed his number, no answer. I walked down stairs. Silence filled the house.
"Jared you home?" No answer i called again. It rang three times.
"Hello mr. Reids phone may i ask whos speaking." A femals voice was the first thing i heard.
"Hello?"
"Yes hi this is mrs. Reid who is this, where is jared?"
"Mrs.reid hi this is jareds secretary Katrina, sorry to answer his phone but it kept ringing and it seemed important."
"Thats fine but where is jared he never came home last night and i was worried.  My sons been asking for him all night." My mind was racing and all i could thing about was what am i going to tell neko.
"He left about 10 minutes ag. Im guessing he hasnt been home at all. He came in at like 7:00am this morning." Seven thirty where was he feom 12:00am to 7:00am somethings arent adding up. "
"Okay thank you sorry for the attitude i portrayed im just worried about jared thats all."
"Thats fine my husband does that as well when he goes out with friends."
"Sorry to hear that thanks for letting me know about when jared was there makes me feel slightly better about his earlier where abouts."
"No problem bye now." I heard the front door open just as i was hanging up.
"Babe im home. Phoebe?" Jared walked into the kitchen hair messy and his shirt untucked.
"Hey phoebe." Jared walked over to kiss me. I backed away.
"You dont get to hey phoebe me jared. Our son remember, just asked where his father was. I had to lie to him again. Jared you're either out late every night or you dont come home its been going on for three weaks now. What the hell is going on?"
"Babe u know i have a major deal to close. I went in earlythis morning probally at like 4:30am to work more. So what is your problem."
"Your the problem jared you've not been honest latley you sneak and your out to god only knows." I looked at him tears welling up in my eyes. Damn yet again my emotions betrayed me.
"Dont cry phoebe please dont." Jared tried to walk up to me again but i stepped back.
"Its not that simple jared, are you cheating on me?" My heart pelvetated i knew i couldnt keep my mouth shut but damn this was unreal its like i had no filter. I already knew the answer right then and there when he didnt reply right away he had been done for a while now and it finally came to that point when me and neko wouldnt be enough for him anymore.
"No im not cheating, when will you except that im not leaving you."
"I never said anything about leaving me jared." He really was debating whether to leave me or not. He was quiet for a few minutes and i took the opportunity to walk back upstairs to neko and locked the door behind me so jared couldnt follow.
"Phoebe come on open the door. Please stop always thinking the world is plotting against you have you ever thought that maybe its not everyone around you whos becoming distant its you." He was manipulating me yet again. I heard jared walk away i let out the air that i was holding in. It was a relief thathe walked away from me right now i was in no mood to argue anymore, well at least not right now. He was still lieing and he promised me that he wasnt. Shortly after he walked away i drifted off to sleep with Neko.
