Chapter 4: This Is Not Me

"Then why do I feel butterflies in my stomach everytime you look into my eyes? Why can't I look away from those possessing eyes everytime our glances meet?"

Saying these words you subconsciously got closer to each other step by step. So much that you felt his warmth which was embracing you like two arms. You were lost in each other's eyes. You could only hear the wind going throught the rustling leaves. You saw a teardrop running down on Kaneki's face which was then dried by the wind.

"Tell me the truth. Do you like Arushi?" You asked, afraid of what the answer is going to be.

Because of the suddenly rising feelings, you felt tears accumulating in your eyes. You closed them, so you would stop yourself from crying. Then you felt two arms on your hips, which were strongly but still gently locking you. Due to the positive shock, you gasped loudly and hugged Kaneki back even stronger, while his arm ran down on your back.

"Forget such silly things." He whispered.

When your tears were finally absorbed, you carefully opened your eyes. He was still looking at you. Suddenly, you saw something strange in his left eye. Black stripes appeard in the corners of the eye, which were then spreading all over it, like a web. Before they reached the pupil, they suddenly moved back. They disappeared. You had no clue why it happened. You didn't want to think about it too much, so you just convinced yourself that it was just your imagination. You wear terrified by ghouls. You felt defenceless in the streets, but just the mere feeling that you were being watched could make you think the worst. These times, you had the tendency to let your imagination control you and sometimes you overimagined things.

"Kaneki-kun..." You said.

In the moment when he heard this, he immediately jumped back. When he saw that his hands were lying on you the whole time, he blushed and started to stutter anxiously.

"S-Sumimasen (sorry). I-I don't even know what's got into me. Hehe..." He ran his hand through his hair and smiled embarrasingly.

"No." You said denyingly but with regret, and lowered your eyes. Then you glanced at Kaneki and you rapidly trapped him between your hands. You could hear as he stopped breathing and his heart was pumping faster. "I have to say sorry for going to far with my imagination about you and Arushi." You said.

Only the silence was talking. You completely forgot about the time.

"Hey! Shouldn't have we spent this lesson with talking?" He asked half confused, half playfully.

You didn't answer. You just kept hugging him, who was proudly "letting you do it". So much that when you gently rubbed your head against his, he instinctively pressed his fingers into your back, and let out his breath on your neck. Your eyes widened in that moment and your heart copied the pace of Kaneki's. Then the bell went.

Kaneki suddenly backed off again and took a step back with embarassment.

"Aaagh! I feel so ashamed of myself. But I couldn't restit it. This is not me!" He said self-blamingly.

You couldn't really say anything to this, you just watched him with feeling sort of... sorry for him. He then took his planner out to see what lesson he will have after lunch. You did the same. When you saw that you'll have p.e., you began to walk to your locker. But you paused after two steps. Then you slowly took your way towards Kaneki, who was still analysing his planner. Suddenly, he sensed that someone had moved into his intimsphere, and there was only an inch betrween the two mouth. You could feel his breath. It was intermittent and heavy. You patiently leaned to his ears.

"I know there's more in you." You said. Then you walked away.

You spent the lunch with Arushi. After, you played tennis on p.e., which you were fairly good at. But of course, maths ruined your good mood when you saw the untouched mock exam papers on the desk. Not because you were bad at the subject. If we're honest, people often mentioned that they think you're good at maths, but since you wouldn't be satisfied with just an "A", you never said or even thought that you are 'that' good. :p

After the lesson, you went to the gate to wait for Arushi. Now she's gonna ask where I've been on tutor. What should I say? What should I say?! You thought stressfully. If Arushi is really into Kaneki, then now she will know that you have the lead. She will get jealous and she will try to take him away from you. Not like he is your property or anything of course. Maybe he huged you becasue he was confused about what to do in that momment. It's not like he likes you anyway. So why worry?

"I know where you've been on tutor." Declared Arushi.

That's it. You're screwed. You made a last try, just if you have any chance to save the situation.

"How would you know? You can't even suspect anything. Of course it's not like it's a secret or anytghing..."

It would have been better if you don't speak. But it's typical of you. You often speak first and then you think it through when it's too late.

"Really? Then how do you think I found out where you disappeared from maths and that you lied to me?" She said half angrily, half.... playfully?
