It was just after school ended when I heard about Mike Willis committing suicide.
My best friends Tracey and Hanna and I were walking home from school together when we happened to pass a convenience store.
"It's so hot outside!" cried Hanna
Hanna was not wrong. It was a very hot June day. Summer was definitely here in Rhode Island.
"We're in front of a convenience store, maybe we could buy ice cream here" suggested Tracey
"Yes!" I yelled "That would be amazing!"
When we entered the store, the air conditioner was blasting, making it feel like the artic in there. It was such a relief to feel cold again
While Hanna and Tracey were crowding up the ice cream freezer, not making me able to fit in, I decided to buy the local newspaper for our town. I love sitting on my porch during the late evening and reading the weekly paper.
When I went over to the newspaper stand, I saw the front cover of the local newspaper which said "Mike Willis Committed Suicide". My life changed with that headline.
