"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." Matthew 7:7
Now a few weeks ago my pastor spoke a very interesting sermon. It was about the idea that whatever you ask God you will receive. It got me thinking. Is that really entirely true? I mean, people pray for their sick loved ones to get better and they die anyway. Why didn't God give them what they asked for?
It's actually quite simple.
God has a purpose for EVERYTHING. And when I say EVERYTHING, I mean EVERYTHING. Just because your brother died doesn't mean God is ignorant and doesn't care. Quite the opposite. God mourns with you but then he gives you the comfort that your brother will one day wake up and meet God in the clouds of heaven.
God has a purpose for everything, and I don't know the answers.
But I do know that when we ask God for something we will receive either that exact thing, or His comfort when it doesn't go the way we wanted it to.
I trust God in his plans. And you know what would be a great idea to do when you are praying for something. At the end of your prayer just say, "Let your will be done," because that shows you trust God in His plans.
So pray, ask, and receive.
Dear Father,
Thank you for your never-ending love that flowed form Calvary. I trust in you and your plans because I know they are what I need and perfect. I hope that everyone here today feels the same way after they've read this devotional. May God bless them and give them the hope they need. Ask, receive, experience.
Amen.
