The Ties That Bind

Chapter 1

It's been so long since I have dated anyone . Not that I couldn't get a man... I just didn't trust them. They lie , cheat , and just lie again . After my first heartbreak it just caused me to shut down completely . All my perceptions of men became the same after a while. I found a fatal flaw in all but who doesn't have flaws ? But anyway, It's about time I get back out there though , my biological clock is ticking and 28 isn't getting any younger .

I just finished up my senior year in college and graduation is 1 week away . I decided to get my major in Interior Designing & Decorating with a minor in photography . As a little girl I enjoyed taking pictures my father would take my brother , my sister and I to the park every week , every Saturday and we would just have family gatherings and take pictures & just simply enjoy each other's company . I was always fascinated with the scenery . The wind blew in my hair , the wind whispered in my ear , the sound of the water and the dock bells were so calming . The sun would set right over this water , causing it to glisten in the night . It was a sight I'll never forget.
I quickly dressed and grabbed my bags to head to the coffee shop then to meet Lacy for our normal workout routine . Lacy is my best friend , and have been for over 22 years . I love that girl like a sister.
I headed to Starbucks around the corner from my studio apartment  , the sun was shinning bright and in my mind so was I . I reached around in my bag to pull out my wallet when this tall man damn near knocked me off my feet to the ground . He helped me up and I couldn't help but stare . He was tall , stocky, with a light mocha skin complexion , his teeth were perfect , bright whites he was the ideal package .
"I'm so sorry little lady , I didn't mean to startle you or hurt you " , the mystery man said
"No you're okay , it's fine . I'm clumsy anyway ." I replied brushing my self off
"By the way my name is  Tremaine and yours is ?" He asked
"Ava . My name is Ava . " I responded , I quickly ended the conversation before it got any further , I felt myself actually starting to like the strange guy . I was looking for a man , just not at this very moment . "It's nice to meet you Tremaine but I have to go , it was nice talking to you." I said rushing into the building . He wanted to say something else but looked and walked away . I blew off some steam with the Mocha Latte I ordered . I can't lie the man was gorgeous but he was too gorgeous for me . I sat and thought about my recent encounter with him when Lacy intruded my thoughts.
"Girl! I have been waiting on you for the past 15 minutes . " Lacy said . Lacy wasn't as tall as me , she was short , dark skinned with short trimmed hair. She was slim and very pretty.  I admired her.  "I'm sorry girl,  I know I was running late. " I said, I didn't want to tell her about mystery guy Tremaine , Lacy just would have encouraged me to go back and find his ass again and I wasn't up for the task,  so I kept it to myself for a while.

Lacy and I always, meet up here at Starbucks every morning before our workout routine.  "You ok girl I was just talking stuff,  now we can get out of here and get our day started."
I gathered my things from the table and nodded.  I'm sure she could tell something was on my mind and didn't want to ask.  A part of me was hoping she would then the other part was hoping she wouldn't.

After my morning run with Lacy, she went back to her place and I proceeded to mines.  I was feeling ok from my run but I did want to relax and watch some episodes from Greys Anatomy.  My keys jangled in my hand,  I fondled for the right one to open my door when I heard a man's voice from the next place over.  I didn't know my neighbors well,  hell at all for real but this one caught my attention.  I didn't want to be nosey but I had to listen. I heard him say,  "I can't fucking leave my wife for you!  You understood this in the beginning! ". The man yelled.  "That was before we fell in love with each other!  Shit is different now and I want and deserve more!  You leave her or I'll call her! " the other man yelled.  Secret love circle I thought.  It's not cool being cheated on by the person who swore to never do so, it made me think about my previous situations and I quickly shook it off and hurried to open my door before either one of them saw me and caught me listening. 
I opened the door and threw my bag and keys on the table by the door and kicked my shoes off.  I decided to shower before relaxing when I noticed a vase of roses and a card on the floor on the other side of the door.   The roses we're so pretty and smelled very nice.  I popped open the card and read it's content inside. 
It was nice bumping into you earlier,  dinner sometime?
I blushed kind of at the thought.  It was a cute gesture and I actually held on to that thought. Maybe I'll take him up on his offer,  but for now he'll never know.............
