Chapter 16: The search for answers

Its been 3 hours since the change and the brothers and Miss Gracie were next to Yugo on the hospital bed. They all were sitting in silence as they wait for Yugo to wake up. The doctors explained that the knife cut up a lot of muscle tissue and his arm was inflected due to the rust on it. He was lucky that the knife wasn't thrusted a little higher. The doctors said he could have lost his arm. The worst was how much blood he lost. The hospital gave him some to keep him stable. He would be asleep for a while and how he recovers is uncertain.

Miss Gracie left them to talk with doctors and sign papers. Yuya broke the silence. "I think we found something about the change." Yuri and Yuto looked at him in shock. Yuri shot up from his seat "So what is it. Come on what is it!" Yuri yelled. He knew all the pain from being the source of the change. Yuya looked at him coldly "When Yugo wakes up. We all deserve to hear and see this." With that Yuri sat down and stayed quiet.

With Rin, she was in orphanage. She looked at the things Yugo had. Miss Gracie was nice enough to let Rin and her sisters stay and calm down. On his side he had a the usual things, duel equipment, runner parts magazines and a picture of his family. She then noticed something that was on a night stand right next to his bed and was the only thing on it. A picture of herself wearing the dress she wore for their first date with a red rose in front of it. The picture also had writing.

The day I finally could say I found the love of my life

Rin cried a little knowing he would keep it close to him. Her sisters entered the room to get answers about what happened. "What happened?" Serena asked. Rin cried more intense. She was about to be raped if it wasn't for Yugo. She also remembered the man get sliced to pieces and talk about something but didn't really care to listen. All she thought about was getting the energetic and determined man she fell in love with back. Rin told them everything that happened to her first. Her sisters were shocked and were tearing up. "Oh my god Rin are you okay. I can't believe that happened to you." Yuzu said hugging her sisters crying. "It okay but Yugo he was different. All he thought about was destroying the man that almost raped me." Rin was debating whether or not to tell them that Yugo's dragon basically shredded the man. "Did he run away after Yugo scared him?" Ruri asked. "Yes but... h-he... h-he" Rin was shaking as she remembered what happened. Yuzu Ruri and Serena were concerned. They saw the sadness and fear in her eyes. "He killed him." Rin said in a quiet voice. "W-what?" Yuzu said in shock. "He ordered Clear Wing to destroy him. The dragon started by cutting his head off and then the rest of his body." "Just like Yuri was about to do with that low life that hit me." Serena said. "The more angry they get the more they lose control and the more cruel they become." Ruri added. Yuzu turned to her Rin. "It's okay he saved you and you know he wouldn't do that if he was himself." Yuzu said. "I know but I wish I can help him more." Rin never lifted up here head. She kept looking at the ground. "They will figure this out and stop that change. They promised to stay with us and they wouldn't break that promise." Serena stated. They all nodded and hoped their boyfriends will be alright.

Back at the hospital, morning came and Yugo was still unconscious with his brothers and Miss Gracie at his side. "What happened?" Miss Gracie asked the guys. A silence engulfed the room. They looked away from Miss Gracie. "I know that you 4 are acting different and that you are looking for something so just tell me okay." The guys didn't even say a word until Yugo started to move. "Yugo can you hear me?" Miss Gracie asked. "Miss Gracie? What happened?" "You tell me Yugo." Yugo tried hard to remember anything. Every memory that went through his head gave him a headache. More so when it got to what happened on the night. "I remember R-Rin..." to his horror he remembered what Rin went through. He got up and grabbed his clothes. "Yugo what are you doing?" Miss Gracie asked. He didn't answer. Once he put on his clothes and ran out. "Young man you can't go yet!" Yugo ignored the doctor and ran out with his brothers behind him. He knew the hospital is close to the orphanage so he ran there to get Yuya's runner. Since he didn't have his keys to his runner he needed Yuya's.

By the time he got there Yugo out ran his brothers and opened the garage. Since the girls were there they heard the garage door open. Rin ran to the garage thinking that someone can back with news on Yugo. When she was at the door she heard someone turning on Yuya's runner. She opened the door and saw Yugo ready to go. Before he could go Rin ran to him and pulled him into a tight embrace. Tears ran down her eyes as she held Yugo. Yugo got off Yuya's runner and pressed her against him tighter. "I'm glad you're okay." Rin said softly. "I am sorry I couldn't protect you. Please tell me that nothing happened to you." "Nothing happened you saved me." Yugo pulled back from the hug and looked at Rin confused. "What do you mean? I was knocked out right?" "You don't remember do you?" When Rin said that he immediately knew what happened. "I'm sorry." "For what?" "I let the change happen. I couldn't stop it." Yugo looked down as a tear fell down his cheek. "It's okay I promise." Rin hugged Yugo and kissed him passionately.

When the Yuri Yuya and Yuto came back they asked the girls to go home since they didn't get sleep. They kissed their boyfriends goodbye and left. The guys then told Yugo about his arm and that Yuya found something. "Well what is happening to us?" Yugo asked. "It's hard to explain but for some reasons we share a dark side and the tower is apart of it as well. Why I don't know yet but it's like it's trying to consume us." They all stayed quiet. Yuto decided to end the silence. "I say we leave for a bit just for a week or so and figure out what's happening." "What about our dragons?" Yuya asked. "Let's not bring them into this. I feel like it would make things worse." They all agreed with Yuto and packed.

They told Miss Gracie what been happening and Yuya showed her the video Sora took. "Okay I understand but promise me you will look out for one another and come back when it's done." They all nodded. She then hugged all four of them. "Love you my sons." "We love you to mom." The brothers said in unison. They got on the runners and went to the girls house.

"What do you mean your leaving?!" Rin yelled. "We aren't leaving town but you wouldn't see us for a while." Yuri said as he held on to Serena's hand. "We will return we promise we just need to figure this out more and we want you all safe." Yuya added. "Promise?" Ruri said looking into Yuto's eyes. "We promise." Yuto replied. They said their goodbyes and left.

"We will come back stronger and with the darkness gone for good I swear it" Yugo thought as he and his brothers set off on their own.
