Chapter 25: Awake

It was quite in the small room. One person sleeping in a chair on and another was holding the hand of a patient on the hospital bed with her head laid on edge of the bed. The room was filled with get well gifts from the many people who grown to care for him.

Yuya was out for only three days but that didn't stop the others from worrying. Yuzu refused to leave his side and the brothers agreed to take turns for staying with Yuya. It was Yuri's turn to stay as well as keep Yuzu company and make sure she is okay.

Doctors told them that Yuya was lucky. His crash was close to breaking his spine, neck and head. He only had two broken ribs, concussion and a few bruises. Doctors don't know when he would wake up but they said it would be soon.

--In Yuya head--

Yuya's wakes up in a dark place alone. The place looked like it had no end no beginning it was just there. "Where am I? Last thing I remember is being electrocuted and....wait... am... am I dead?" Yuya then paces back and forth not knowing what to do. What could he do he is in what looks like no where in some dark world.

Then a flash of light appears. "What's that? And why is it growing?!" Yuya was then engulfed by it, temporarily blinding him. When he opened his eyes he saw a world like no other. It was futuristic yet was very green as well. Trees and flowers everywhere. Smiling people and children playing. Life looked good for those people. "I guess this is what it will look like in the future or something but why am I seeing this? Also why is it I feel like I know this place?" Yuya then started to walk around seeing what the place had to offer but he noticed that nobody seemed to notice him. He then saw kids looking at a virtual poster. Yuya reached out his hand to tap a kids shoulder to ask about the poster. "Hey kid what's pos-" Yuya was left speechless. He found out why nobody noticed him. When his hand went through the kid he knew that they can't see or hear him. "What's happening?" Yuya said looking at his hand."Hey it's about to start let's go!" One of the kids said. Yuya watched as they ran towards what looked like a stadium. Out of curiosity and to get his mind off of not existing in the world he was in. He entered without any trouble and saw a huge duel field. "Wow! This place is amazing!" "The duel between Geo and Helios will begin in a few moments." The announcer said throw the intercom. "I got to see this!" Yuya rushed to see the duel. Once he got to a place where he can see the whole field the two duelist have already set one monster on each side. Yuya noticed their duel disks are different and are much bigger than the ones he is use to. "Attack Atomic Scrap Dragon! No Mercy!" As instructed it attacked like a ruthless beast. It grab the monster and ripped it apart and threw the pieces at the duelist. The duelist was crushed by his monster and hand very visible injuries. Yuya expected gasps and horrified faces but only cheers were heard. "That was an awesome take down! He can even get up!" One of the kids said as he watched in approval. "How can they watch this and approve of it."Yuya then felt a very well known pain in his chest. Then everything went black. 'Destroy. That's all they crave. I will give it to them there destruction.' A voice said. A dark figure appeared behind Yuya. What looked like a beast that knew nothing but destruction. 'Destroy, Destroy , DESTROY KILL EVERYTHING!' "Never!"

"Ahh" Yuya yelled quietly and he sat up. He looked around and saw himself in a hospital room with Yuri sleeping on a chair and Yuzu sleeping on the side of his bed holding his hand. 'It was just a dream. At least I hope it was.' Yuya thought as the dream started to replay in his mind. He looked at Yuzu one last time before going back to sleep. "I truly don't deserve you."

The sun shined through the room waking Yuya up again. Yuzu was still sleeping and Yuri left the room. Yuya slow moved out of the hospital bed and tried his best not to wake Yuzu. Yuto walked in at was shocked to see Yuya up. Yuya gestured to keep quiet to not wake Yuzu. He then pointed to the door so they can talk outside.

"Hey what's up?" Yuya said casually. "What's up? Yuya you were out for four days and had a bad crash." Yuto said calmly. "And here I thought you would show some emotion." "Yuya if you want that then see Yugo but I am glad your awake brother." Yuto then gave his brother a hug. He released Yuya and ruffled his hair a bit. "I'm not a child Yuto." "I know but your more of the younger brother to us." Yuya just nodded and as he opened the door to look at Yuzu. "We need to talk but first I want to be with her for a while." Yuto smiled before leaving Yuya with Yuzu. Yuya walked in and picked up Yuzu carefully and placed her on the bed. He sat there on the side of the bed thinking. 'I don't know if I can make Yuzu go through this. I know that she wouldn't leave me but I just don't know what to do.' He then laid down and wrapped his arms around her. 'I just wish she could have a life without my complicated drama.' He then fell asleep once more.

A few hours later Yuya woke up to someone griping on to him. He looked down to see Yuzu snuggling closer to him with a smile on her face.

He then noticed his deck and duel disk next to a letter. He grabbed the letter without waking his girlfriend and opened it

Due to your crash the tournament was to end with Jack Atlas as the winner by default. However he as declined and said he will wait as long as needed to face you. Until then he refuses to be claimed as the winner of the tournament. You have final say to this. Contact us for your response.

"Geez" Yuya put the letter down and felt arms wrap around him. "I'm so happy your awake." Yuzu started to tear up and hugged Yuya tighter. "Like I said, I never going to leave you." They stayed in comfortable silence until Yuzu calmed down.

"What are you going to do about your match?" Yuzu said breaking the silence. "Jack said he doesn't accept winning the tournament until he beats you." Yuya just sat there thinking for a few moments. Weighing all options he came to a conclusion. "Tomorrow I will face Jack." Yuya looked determined but not because he wanted to beat Jack or win the tournament.

"Are you sure?" Yuzu asked concerned. He wreaked badly and he wanted to face him the next day after he woken up. " I'm sure." He said calmly. "You didn't have to. You have nothing to prove." "I do have something to prove." He looked Yuzu in the eyes with determination. "I have to prove to myself I can duel without becoming a monster. To show I can keep it in check so you don't have to worry so much." Yuya then grabbed her hand and kissed it. "For you I will face any evil even if it's within me." Yuzu kissed Yuya cupping her hand on his cheek and smiled. "You don't have to. At least not alone. I'm stay right by your side for better or for worse." "I don't deserve someone like you Yuzu." Yuzu hugged him once more. "Stop saying that. I fell in love with you because you just never stop smiling. And that you are extremely cute." Yuzu giggled while Yuya blushed for being called cute. "I love you too Yuzu. Forever and Always."
