Yato x Reader *REDONE*

I still remember that dreaded day, a day I still regret to this moment. The day I left Yato.

I was his Sekki and turned into twin swords with a chain that connected them. We did the same thing everyday, kill phantoms, do jobs, and get five yen. Sounds kinda boring, right? Yeah, it was. But even though it was boring and awkward, somehow I grew feelings for the 'god.' Being around him caused butterflies in my stomach and when I turn into my sekki, and he fought with me, my heart skipped a beat. It felt like I was suffocating by just being by his side, but I wouldn't change it for the world.

At least that's what I thought. He met someone else... Someone who replaced me. She became his new sekki while he became her god. Slowly, he forgot about me. Forgot about our games, my stupid jokes, out friendship...

I felt broken... I didn't know what to do our why this happened. What did I do to deserve this?

Eventually, I couldn't take being neglected anymore.

It was a Thursday morning. Once I awoken, I noticed the dew on the grass and the clouds covering the sky. Yet, even though it was cloudy, it wasn't cold. It was warm, almost like the warmth you feel when you know you're safe. Like two loving arms wrapped around you.

I made my way across the grass, ignoring Yato and that girl sleeping somewhat close together. I isn't wasn't too sit alone in the awkward silence, so I made my way into the city to do what I normally do when I'm bored or depressed. I watched people go along with their lives. It's interesting to see what they waste their time with and who they stay by.

I found a comfy spot to sit - which was on tip of a telephone pole- and just watched. As the morning went by, so did the clouds. Soon, the sky was completely clear and the sun shone with every last drop off light it contained.

I take a deep breath, satisfied with my morning, and jumped down to head back to Yato. Today was the day... The day I'm going to gather the courage to quit. I tried not to worry Abbott the details but just wanted to get it over with...

I walked back to where I awoke, to find Yato awake and the girl still asleep. Yato was lying in his back, looking up at the blue sky. Once I grew closer, Yato felt my presence and looked up. A small smile tugged at his lips.

"(Y/n)... I was wondering where you went." He jumps up to his feet and walks up to my form, "Don't scare me like that." He pinches my cheek and I glare at him disapprovingly.

"Yato, we need to talk." I said seriously, after i slapped his hand away from my face.

"About what?" He said, upset about pushing him away.

"About..." I motion toward myself then to him, "... This." He didn't seem to understand and I sigh deeply. "Yato. I'm quitting."

He eyes got big as his cheeks got a little red, "What?" He looked worried before relief flushed through, he started to laugh. "You're so funny, (y/n). You know that?"

He thought I was joking.

I place my hands on his shoulders and look him into his eyes, "Yato, in serious. I can't take this anymore. Release me, please?" I begged. I could feel my eyes watering up, but I tried to keep the tears from falling.

"A-Are you sure?" I nod. "O-Okay..." He does a sign in the air and released me.

I felt free, like shackles were released from my hands. But... I also felt like something inside of me died a little... I felt disappointed.

I gave Yato a quick hug before leaving him... Forever...

Right?

I was going along with my regular day, lost in thought about Yato and what he might be doing now... I miss him, a lot.

I stopped by a park and just sat on top of one of the structures, gazing.

"(Y/n)?" A soft voice asks from behind me. I recognized the voice, but couldn't turn around to check because my body was frozen in place. "Is it really you...?" They ask. I could hear them taking steps toward me. I hesitantly moved my body around to look behind me.

"Yato...?"

There he was with a smile on his face, he looked the same, but his eyes looked softer. We just stayed there, looking at one another in shock to see an old friend. Who knows how long we were frozen in place, but he took a couple of steps closer before full on running towards me. He wrapped his arms around my waist, picking me up off the ground and spinning me around.

He set me down and pulled away, he smiled again and pulled me back into another hug.

"I missed you... So much." He whispered into my hair.
