Yeah i know, I'm in a good mood and i've got some free time so i thought i would simply place 2 chapters up today. There are elements of this chapter i'm not so sure about especially with Grant but i took a risk. Let me know what you think :)
Chapter 7
Grant POV
I can’t stand him, I hardly know the guy but I cannot stand him. I mean he seems nice and I’ve heard Caitlin and Taylor talking about how funny and entertaining he is but I don’t like him and I can tell something is going on with him. By going on I mean that he has feelings for Taylor or at least he thinks her more than a friend. To me that means any chance that I have to being with Taylor, he’s a celebrity in England, she’s helping him to become someone big here in America and if she ever happens to have feelings for him too then I’m done- there is no chance for me to win her over. I would never question her feelings for someone else and try to make her love me more no matter how strongly I feel towards her.
I stood in the back of the booth just going over some chords and trying to control my envy of Ed and the way which he looks at Taylor. I was supposed to have been in with them recording this song but Ed had said it would sound better if they did it the way they wrote it and just have it them playing their guitars so of course Taylor agreed. I was just mucking around on my guitar when I felt someone tap me on the back, I turned round to see Mary looking at me.
“Can I help you? Is something wrong?” I asked trying not to sound too annoyed or angry as it wasn’t her I was angry at or jealous towards.
“What’s wrong? I can tell that something is annoying you or you wouldn’t be facing the wall to play your guitar” She says to which I smile as she does have a point and I probably did look silly.
“I’m just a little annoyed from something I was supposed to do at Lunch time but I forgot” I lied trying to hope that she would be naïve enough to believe that and not see straight through me like I knew that Taylor could.
“I can tell your lying, it’s something to do with that Ed guy as you’ve changed since he walked in. I can read expressions on faces and tell how people are so don’t lie to me again” Mary said with a little bit of sass which I could tell she must have picked up from Taylor as it was similar to the sass which Taylor has when she is in a particular mood. It was obvious that these two were alike and it was in more ways than one.
“Well something doesn’t feel right about him, I’m not going to go into full details as you’re a little young but I just don’t like him. Don’t worry it doesn’t have anything to do with my friendship with Taylor and going out later to get ice cream” I said to which she smiled and I knew that I’d been able to change the topic away from Ed as I wasn’t going to go into that with her. Mary may seem smart but she is only 13 and you don’t discuss life with a 13 year old girl or at least not when it involved her foster mother.
“Cheer up, I don’t want to have to go out for ice cream with a wet blanket of Taylor’s friend” She remarked before hugging me to try and get me to cheer up. Her remark made me laugh and I was definitely seeing a friendship between us form simply by making the effort to spend time with her and getting to know her.
Taylor POV
We’d finished at the studio about 2 hours ago and we’re heading to where I’d arranged to meet up with Grant. We’d been shoe shopping and I knew that Mary was probably getting tired from everything that had happened today. Something must be up with Mary as she had been really happy and talkative with everyone till we’d left the studio. That’s a partial lie considering she wouldn’t talk with Ed and she tried not to hang out with him which had me confused as I thought she would like to meet him and talk with him as he’s like a big kid. When we’d left the studio she’d been quiet and didn’t really want to talk about anything, almost like I’d done something to upset her or something. But I’d been over everything that we’d done since we’d left lunch and I couldn’t think of anything which might make her quiet and secluded even from me.
“You’ve been quiet ever since we left the studio. I thought you would have been excited about getting new shoes? What’s wrong Mary?” I asked as we pulled up outside the ice-cream parlour where Grant had suggested we meet.
“I don’t know. You promise that you won’t tell anyone if I tell you something? I know you talk about me to you friends” Mary said but I knew that this would just be between us and there was no way which I could tell anyone else what she said as then she wouldn’t trust me.
“Sure Sweetheart, you know whatever you tell me is completely confidential unless you say otherwise. You do know that right?” I asked and she nodded before she took a deep breath
“Ed confuses me and I’m not sure if I like him. Today I’ve enjoyed hanging out with Grant and getting to see how childish and funny he is. Like when you were recording today and he was playing with you he was pulling faces at me the whole time. Can’t you see that Grant and Ed don’t get along? Grant told me that he doesn’t like Ed and although I’ve not spoken to Ed I can tell that he doesn’t like Grant simply from the way he acts around him” Mary explains and I was speechless. I mean it confuses me as to how one little girl could even understand things like this but the way which she is about to tell from looking at Ed and speaking with Grant amazed me. This was the same girl who had been shy towards Grant this morning but being with him today had really brought her out her shell like I knew it would.
I never would have thought that Grant and Mary would form the beginning of a friendship this quickly and I seriously thought that it would take more effort for that friendship to form. Mary is a very shy person with a shy personality which is why I never thought that her and Grant would hit off like they appeared to. I mean Mary has even begun to be close to Caitlin towards the end of the time together today and that’s something I would really like to see. Caitlin is like a sister to me and we always do things together such as sharing a dressing room on tour and places even though she’s adamant that she’d quite okay sharing with the boys. Then there is Grant who I feel is more to me than any friend could ever be but I won’t ever act on it as he has a girlfriend and she has a daughter, I wouldn’t dream of them every breaking up. Grant, Claire and Maddie (otherwise known as Lulu) all look so perfect together and I know that Claire really loves Grant and he loves her back which is why it can never be anything more than that.
I’ve got to go and look for new additions to the band in forms of backup singers as Liz has left. I need more backup singers than just Caitlin even though she’s great there has to be new additions for a new sound. It’s the new sound which I want to work on creating for this new album or at least for the release in a month and then the tour next year. Then there was a fact that I have to find a new drummer as Al is going to be leaving us at the end of the year and I don’t know where to start to look for one. But I’m sure it won’t be too hard to find one and we’ll make him feel right at home like we do with any new additions to this close knit group which we have here.
