Mary's First Show

Chapter 28

Mary POV

I can’t believe how big this place is or how Taylor would be playing to here to a sold out crowd tonight. I mean I watched her rehearse earlier with the band and they were really good. Although I will admit that I spent most of the time just pulling faces with Amos – but he started it. I’m sure that I’m going to end up getting lost tonight if I’m not careful because this place has so many hallways and doors. I mean I would even get lost backstage, I just hope that if I do get lost someone is around to point me in the right direction as long to where I have to be. I mean if I get lost I have no idea how to get back to the hotel if everyone leaves without me because they didn’t know I’d gotten lost. I just had to make sure that I didn’t wander off or moved away from everyone I know.

 I don’t know exactly when the show is supposed to start but by the fact that everyone around me is busy getting ready for it by doing their hair or make up or even just tuning their guitar, I know it’s going to be soon. I’d been hanging out in the larger dressing room with the band for most of the afternoon after sound check just talking with Kamilah and Melanie about things as Claire had been too busy reading her magazine and Carly was on the phone so she didn’t talk with me. Grant had come back to the room to get and send me back to Taylor as wanted to see me apparently. I’d left the dressing room so that I gave Grant and Taylor some alone time considering that Taylor had hung out with me all morning so it was only fair.  But if Taylor wanted me to go back and see her now then that was fine too as I really didn’t mind.

“There you are, I was wondering where you wandered off to” Taylor said walking out the bathroom, I’d not been gone for too long but obviously she had been worried about me and whether I was safe.

“I was only in the larger dressing room with everyone else, I wanted to talk to Kamilah and Melanie…as well as beating Amos at go fish” I smiled because I didn’t want to say that I really left to give her and Grant some alone time.

“Nice work, do you want to go and grab something to eat after the show? Or do you just want to go back to the hotel and order room service?” Taylor asked but I was a little confused as to why she was asking me when she was the adult and normally makes the decisions.

“I don’t mind, I’m easy and will go with whatever” I say grabbing a bottle of water out the bar fridge in the dressing room. I didn’t understand why Taylor had it but if it gave us water then that was a bonus and it wasn’t in the way which was even better.

“Are you going to hang out back here during the show or are you going to go and watch the show from the sound booth?” Taylor asked and I knew that she just wanted to know where I was going to be to make sure that I was safe.

“Can I go to the sound booth?” I asked as I wasn’t entirely sure whether her statement before was giving me permission or whether I had to ask permission and I really didn’t want to get it wrong.

“Sure, I’ll get one of the team to take you there after the team meeting” Taylor took my hand and we walked down the hall to the larger dressing room where everyone else was just milling around.

 As we all formed a circle for the meeting I stood next to Taylor and Melanie. The only problem was that everyone had their arms around each other’s shoulders and I wasn’t tall enough later and so I just had to have my arms round their backs instead.

“We’ve all been rehearsing for several days now to make sure that those people out there get as good a show as everyone else on the Speak Now Tour. It doesn’t matter that we don’t have the dancers because we’re going to give a great show anyway. I’m so glad that I get to perform with all of you insanely talented people around me and I can’t wait to show all those screams exactly how talented you really are. We’re going to go out and give them all the best show like we know we can and I believe in all of you. Alright Long Live after three…1, 2, 3, LONG LIVE!” Taylor said to which we all joined in on the last little bit.
