Chapter 11

A few days later

I can’t believe that after about 2 years of hard work today is the day which I get to tell my fans about my new album. I get to reward their patience and dedication to me and the process which I go through with writing new music for them to hear and connect with. Today was the day for my new video chat and I had 30 lucky fans coming round to my parents place to be able to be with me for the webcast. I’d also planned to invite them to come back to my place with Mary and I to hang out and have dinner.

I always wanted to go the extra mile for them and do something more considering how dedicated to me they are and how much hard work they put in to making my album’s a success in ways which I can’t. I can only write the songs and put them out into the world, as to whether they become a success and become hit singles is all up to my fans and they always come through for me. They love my music and they allow me to do what I love which is make music and so I’ll always be dedicated to them and showing them how much they mean to me.

We were due at my parents place about 1 as the webcast was set to go live around 3 and I needed to get prepped and ready for it all beforehand. I wasn’t just going to talk about my album, show my album cover and play my new single I was also going to answer questions from my fans about my album. After the webcast I also wanted to perform acoustically a couple of songs off my new album for my fans in the room which would be put on the internet later.

Mary seemed a little anxious about everything when she came down for breakfast this morning. Today was going to be the first time which she’s come in proper contact with my fans and they’ve actually seen her. I mean there have been a couple of times where I’ve met fans on the streets in Nashville or at the shopping mall as they’ve asked me a question or wanted a photo. But I would try and not have her around like she would still be in a shop looking at something with a member of my team or I would get my team to try and move her along to the next shop we wanted to go to.

It wasn’t that I didn’t want her around my fans or my fans around her but I wanted that to happen when she was comfortable and out in the streets when she’s only been with me for about a month is not the time to be introducing her to fans. I just don’t want her to be overcrowded. It wasn’t like there wasn’t going to be anyone there today whom she didn’t know as my band were coming, Scott from the label was coming and my parents were going to be there. If anything was to go wrong or she didn’t feel comfortable she would just go to them as she knew and felt comfortable with them all.

“How long is the webcast going to go for?” Mary asked as she came back downstairs from getting dressed and ready to go.

“Well the webcast it’s self will probably be around 30 minutes to an hour but I’ve got to do a couple of other things as well. I’d say we’re going to be there for at least 3 hours if not more. You’ll get to see my parent’s house and they have a really big back yard perfect for their dogs. Don’t worry though because if things get too much then you’ll be able to escape to any of the other rooms which they have- trust me they have several rooms. You’ll go to one of those rooms and I’ll just come and find you later” I explained trying to make her feel at home about everything.

“Will Grant, Scott and Andrea be there?” Mary asked

“Yep, Grant, Caitlin, most of my band, my parents and my record label manager Scott will all be there. Do you remember Scott?” I asked because she’d only seen him briefly when we were at the studio.

“Did he have black hair?” Mary questioned and I found it rather cool how she was able to distinguish between both my dad Scott and my record label manager Scott simply by the colour of their hair.
