Chapter 18
Mary POV
I knew that Taylor didn’t come home last night as she wasn’t around when I started to get ready for school, her bed hadn’t even been touched when I went into her room to see if she’d just slept through the alarm. Amos had come round to take me to school as well as to relieve Ed from looking after me as he’d been here all night. I didn’t know what I was going to do, I just hoped that Taylor would be there to pick me up this afternoon as I wanted to see how her sick friend was. I walked down the halls of the school towards my locker as Charles followed me, he’s been really nice lately with being there to look after me like Taylor would have wanted but he was also giving me more space and really allowing me to be me.
“Hey Mary, are you going with Taylor to LA?” Mariah asked when she met me at my locker. Obviously she’d caught wind about Taylor’s performance at an award show that was coming up. To be completely honest, I didn’t really want to go to LA and to the award show. I mean most people wouldn’t undertint why I would turn down a star studded event like the award show that Taylor was going to, to stay and go to school. I like school and I really feel that I’m going to be comfortable and fit in here. I mean I’ve got friends, I like my teachers, I am doing well with all the work so why would I want to give everything up for a few days in LA where I’ll still have to go the work but online.
“I don’t think so, I like school and I want to continue to come and keep up with the work, I may stay behind” I say taking my text books out of my locker.
“ARE YOU MENTAL? Stars like One Direction and Katy Perry are going to be there, why would you stay behind and not hang out with them?” Mariah asked and I could tell that she didn’t see where I was coming from.
“I like school and I want to get into the dance group which means I’m going to have to make sacrifices like award shows. How’d you go with the dance club anyway?” I asked as we walked through the hall to where we would be for our first class Geometry.
“Well I spoke to Miss Dara and explained your situation; she wants to meet you at lunch so I’ll take you to their staffroom. I don’t think she’ll mind if you miss time off considering who your mom is – both she and her daughters are massive Taylor Swift fans. She constantly fan girls over your mom with me and a few other girls in the dace group” Mariah explained. I didn’t understand why Miss Dara and Mariah along with others would have sessions where they completely talk about Taylor. I mean she just seemed like a normal person to me and I see her every day.
“I don’t understand this fan girl thing? I mean there isn’t really any one I look up to so much that all I do is talk about them – there isn’t really anyone who I look up to” I say which is true, whilst I’ve heard music on the radio and Taylor’s told me about different artists/ people she knows. There isn’t anyone who has stood out and I’ve got ‘I want to be like them’. However I knew that when Taylor goes out on tour next and she plays here in Nashville then I’ll have to pull a few strings to bring Mariah and Stella to the show as they were some of my closest friends and I want them to be there and hang out with me. Plus they would probably die when I got them to meet the band and everyone, never mind when they meet Taylor for the first time which will definitely be before the next album comes out or at least I hope that it will.
“You’ll find someone to look up to and then Stella and I will have to put up with you constantly talking about them. Mind you, you’ll probably get to meet them soon after you start liking them considering that your ‘mom’ is Taylor Swift” Mariah says as we walk in to Class. I would never think of using Taylor to my advantage. Although I knew that she would only want me to be happy and would do anything to make that happen. Mariah sits at the desk next to me towards the back of the classroom. I was glad that Mariah and I had time to talk this morning without Stella I was ready to learn something and get my mind focused on my work.
Caitlin POV
I knew that Taylor was going to feel guilty about not going home last night and letting her stay at the hospital with Grant, though how could we disrupt the cute scene which was when she was curled up asleep in Grant’s arms. It didn’t take us long to figure out that they were going to get together, I mean you watch the chemistry with they have and the way they act around each other and you can pretty much tell their destined to be together. Sure it wouldn’t be very nice for Claire to be broken up with. But when you look at what she was doing behind Grant’s back then Taylor is a much better person for him to be with. I know that Grant will love and protect Taylor the way she should be and Taylor will love Grant to the best of her ability. They deserve to be happy and if being together will make them both happy then no matter what others might say or think they deserve to be together and raise Mary together. Although Taylor wants Grant to be Mary’s dad, the fact he’s just gotten out of a relationship and been there for Lulu for pretty much her whole life. I didn’t know if he’ll want to have such a major role anytime soon.
I walk into Grant’s room with a coffee for Taylor, I knew she would probably need one and they were going to bring one round for Grant with his breakfast anyway. Liz had taken a photo of Taylor curled up in Grant’s arms before she left last night which she’d texted through to me. One thing was for sure, I was never going to let either of them live this down that was for sure.
“Morning sleepy heads” I greet as both Taylor and Grant woke up, I knew from the look of horror on Taylor’s face that she didn’t think that she’d slept here over night.
“Oh no! Mary is going to kill me” Taylor said trying to climb off the bed though Grant just pulled her closer. I handed Taylor the coffee which I’d brought her and she smiled gratefully.
“Don’t worry, we’ve organised it all. Amos picked her up and took her to school this morning, she’s fine” I say taking a seat in the chair by the bed.
“But I promised her that I would be home last night and go and tuck her in. Yet obviously that didn’t happen considering I’m still here” Taylor complained signalling she’d like her bag which was placed on the floor by my chair.
“I love the fact you’re still here with me, I can prove you were safe the whole night as you were here with me” Grant said kissing the top of Taylors head. I really felt like I was interrupting a private moment and they should be alone. I had to be in here as I knew that they were planning to discharge Grant soon and I would be the ride home for Taylor and Grant.
“The doctor was here earlier, you two looked rather cosy so he didn’t want to disturb you. He said he’ll be back in like half an hour” I explained to which I knew it would relieve Grant at the thought of being able to actually leave this bed. I’ve not been to hospital recently but I know any hospital bed is never comfortable to be in. Taylor excused herself to go to the bathroom and make a phone call which I knew was probably about Mary.
I moved to the side of the bed and I could tell that the minute Taylor left the room so did his attention, he was so engaged in thoughts about her and where they were going to go from here. I knew I couldn’t provide any assistance in that retrospect as I don’t like to get involved in other people’s business.
“You have somewhere to stay when you get out of here right?” I asked even though I assumed that he’ll just go back to Taylor’s.
“Yeah, Taylor’s letting me stay with her. However I don’t want to be an intrusion to her lifestyle and routine with Mary” Grant said trying to avoid eye contact with me.
“Dude, you’re in a relationship with her now, you’re hardly imposing when you know she wants you there” I explain and I can see that the mention of being in a relationship with Taylor makes Grant smile. I could tell how happy he was with just the thought that he was with Taylor. There is a secret neither grant or Taylor knew about; the entire band except for those two have a bet going on when they would get together and what would cause them to. As Taylor walked into the room she looked a little more cheerful which could only mean that she’d spoken to Mary or knew she was fine. I left claiming that I was going to find the doctor but really I just wanted to give them a moment alone without me in the room.
