Chapter 34

Taylor POV

My excitement for my time in Las Vegas and the performance started from the moment the plane touched down on the runway, the whole band had travelled with Grant and I in the private jet as it was easier for everyone and I wanted them all there. I’d heard so much about the iHeartRadio Music Festival in the past year and I knew that when the opportunity came up I would perform on that stage in front of all those people which is why I’d been one of the first to sign up this year. Leaving Mary back in Nashville was hard but I didn’t really want her to experience the Las Vegas scene just yet as she was too young and I didn’t feel like she would be safe. All this talk with Grant about a surprise had me intrigued as to what he was up to. I knew that he was taking me out on a date so it wasn’t a complete surprise. I didn’t know where or when we would be going, I just hoped it wasn’t after the show tomorrow as I would be exhausted like I always am.

T: Landed in Las Vegas, Have a good day at school. Love you xx I texted Mary considering I’d promised her that I would text when we arrived. I’d bought Mary a phone before we left but it hadn’t been an easy decision to make, I knew that most of her friends had one though and it would make it so much easier to keep in contact with her that way.

M: Have a good time, love you too xx Mary texted back to which I hoped she was going between classes and not texting in class. I didn’t want her to get in trouble and have her phone taken when she’d only recently received it from me.

T: You better not be texting in class! I texted her, I was being demanding but I’m going to officially be her mom soon so I have to be.

M: Class hasn’t started yet, I had to respond or you would think I was ignoring you. Enjoy Vegas…Mom and don’t worry about me xx Mary texted whilst we were in the van to the hotel. It felt weird reading her say mom but I was going to have to get used to it as I was almost her mom. We had sound check in a little while and although we weren’t performing till tomorrow night the organisers had wanted us to do sound check today so I wouldn’t have to worry about anything other than my interviews tomorrow.

“She’ll be fine, she’s old enough to look after herself whilst we’re away and she’s not really alone as she’s staying with your parents” Grant stole my phone from me after reading the messages between Mary and I.

“I was just telling her we landed safely, she’d asked me to yesterday” I explained though he just bent down and kissed me as the car pulled up to the hotel and we all climb out.

“Don’t you have any comebacks other than interrupting me with a…” I say before he kisses me again, he’s clearly trying to tell me to shut up.

“I love you and I love how passionately you speak when you explain things to me…it’s adorable and you’re adorable” Grant takes my hand and guides me to the elevator before pressing the floor our suite was on.

We reached the floor and walked down the hall to our room but before Grant would let me enter he picked me up and flung me over his shoulder.

“GRANT!!! PUT ME DOWN!!”I squealed hitting his back as he carried me through the suite and flung me down on the bed in the bedroom.

“We can talk more about that and other things on our date tonight, I’m taking you out after sound check. Be ready about 6:30 as our reservation is for 7” He smirked and left the bedroom. He’s an incredible man and without him in my life I have no idea where I would be.

My band or “The Agency” as they call themselves is never completely the same when someone is missing which in this case is Mike, my banjo player. His wife went into labour this morning before we left so obviously he stayed behind with her and will be here with us tomorrow. I’m so excited for them and can’t wait to welcome a new member into the family – even though we’re in no way related we’re so close that we are practically family.
