Chapter 22

Taylor POV

A night out with the girls last night was exactly what I needed, I had to get out and have a good time with the girls whom knew me so well and knew exactly how to just have a good time together. I enjoyed hearing about all the new music which both Selena and Demi are working on and the new movie which Emma has coming to cinema's soon. Although I would go see the film it wasn't one which I would take Mary to go and see because it wasn't appropriate for her but I might take Grant on one of our date nights.

FLASHBACK

Demi, Emma, Selena and I sat in a private booth towards the back at Jarino's. We'd requested it as it would be rather quiet and wouldn't have to worry about the paparazzi trying to take millions of photos of us all simply eating food. Their determination made it like we were the only people who actually ate food. I didn't want to get too drunk tonight or even party too hard as I had to work tomorrow with VMA rehearsals. So I was going to drink tonight but I wasn't going to drink too much which is why after my first glass of wine I ordered my favourite soft drink Diet Coke.

"So Tay, Where's Mary? Is she back at your place with your mom?" Emma asked and I knew that she probably hadn't heard that Mary didn't want to come and would rather stay home for school.

"Nope, she's at home with Grant. She didn't want to come this time as she'd much rather go to school and be with her friends then here where she doesn't know anyone" I explained and I could see from the expression on Demi's face that she didn't really understand why Mary would choose to stay behind so she could go to school.

"Oh that's right she's with your new lover boy. I don't understand why she would choose school over LA?" Demi said which made us all smirk a little by her reference to Grant as lover boy.

"She's had a really rough up bringing before Tay, she probably just wants to establish a sense of normalcy in her life" Selena tried to explain Mary's actions.

"But her mom's Taylor Swift, like she's going to get any normalcy in her life" Emma remarked I felt like correcting Emma with the fact that I was only her foster mom and I'd not adopted her yet. I mean it's on my mind and I want to adopt her but it seems a bit soon and I don't want to startle her with the decision because I don't know whether she actually wants to be with me.

"I try to make her to make her life as normal as I can just like I try to have a sense of normalcy in my own life. She invited her friends over yesterday and they just hung out like any other girl her age would" I explain trying to justify my decision but I can tell that Demi doesn't really agree with it. I don't think Emma has much of an opinion on it either but I know Selena has my back. She's like a younger sister to me and I have her back like she has mine.

END FLASHBACK

Today was a different story altogether as it was all work related. I was due at VMA rehearsals just after midday and then I would do a few radio interviews relating to my new album and what fans could expect as it seemed everyone was dying to know. When that was all done I would spend the late afternoon shopping with mom as there were a few things I wanted to buy before I head back to Nashville and I'd seen a really nice bracelet that I wanted to buy for Mary. Seeing as I had the morning to myself I wanted to make sure that everyone knew how things were going to work at the rehearsals and the performance. I also wanted to introduce the 4 new back-up singers which I'd picked to join my band. I had only selected them about 3 days ago after going out to morning tea with Caitlin and talking to each of them. Only Caitlin, Mary and I knew who they were but that would soon change and what better way to get all of this done then a team breakfast.
