You walked into the cafe, still a little flustered by the ride with Hoseok; how you found out ( quite unintentionally ) about his situation. It scared you, to see him vulnerable like that all of a sudden; you knew he didn't want you to know about it, you could decipher it in his eyes. Hoseok had been your friend since the start of University, in fact, he was the very first person in your class who had approached you.
'Y/N?' Namjoon's voice gave away your thoughts.
'Huh?' You noticed that you were still at the door, unmoved. Your eyes wavered, swiftly moving from him to the surroundings around you.
'Why are you crying? Everything alright?' He asked you, resting his hand in a comforting manner on your shoulder. You widened your eyes and felt your cheek - it was indeed wet.
'Oh..' You sniffed, 'No, it's alright, I'm fine,' You shook your head before smiling up at him while he looked down at you with worried, concerned eyes. Thankfully, he didn't press on and hold you back longer, and let you go change into your work clothes.
You walked back into the cafe, and saw today was a day for the crowd.
The thought of being able to meet Taehyung today seeped in, your smile growing as you found yourself slipping right into the perfect mood for the busy day.
You let yourself get occupied with the customer's orders and were so into it that you almost missed the time he was supposed to be arriving at. Exchanging restless glances between the Latte you were preparing and the clock, you found yourself getting anxious and agitated as five, ten, fifteen, thirty minutes went by - and he was still no where to be seen.
But, he said he'd come, you thought sadly as you plopped yourself on a nearby chair behind the counter. You felt childish for having to depend on Taehyung to come everyday, while you just sat there waiting for him. Nevertheless, you still felt very dejected. A heavy sigh left your mouth as your back slouched forward, a sign too well known to your co worker who had been watching you for quite a while.
'Blondie not comin' today?' Soo Young asked as she knelt down in front of you. The cafe was bustling with customers, each shouting out their orders to whichever staff they saw, yet, you felt it was as empty as ever, just because he wasn't present. Things that man made you feel...
'I don't know, he said he'd come,' You sighed, as you desperately looked towards the door. You'd agree if you were told you looked like a small child who seemed lost without their mother in a store.
'Maybe he's caught up with work.' She suggested, and you knew that could be possible but you remained arrogant and sat there, not helping the rest of the staff. Guilt nipped at you, but you felt tied to the ground, your body now too exhausted and heavy to lift itself up to work. You groaned as you watched the clock strike eight.
You sat there for who knows how long until Soo Young came up to you and tapped your shoulder, making you break your glance away from the door, 'Hey, your shift is over Y/N,' she looked at you sympathetically. You nodded, the energy being drained from your features as you pulled yourself up from the chair. Dragging your feet against the tiled floor, you walked into the changing rooms.
'Let me drive you home, Y/N. You don't look like you'd hold onto that steering wheel any longer,' Namjoon's hand rested on yours through the open window of your side, your head turning to look at him. Your face remained nonchalant, but he could literally see your eyes screaming for help. Although you were wide awake and somewhat alert, your hands gripping the steering wheel so hard that your knuckled went white, you knew he was right. So you nodded your head before slipping into the passenger seat wordlessly.
Meanwhile, Namjoon knew he wasn't supposed to be having any kind of friendly interaction with you; and he was close to just leaving you there when he had noticed you sitting in the car with a blank face, yet looking ready to pass out. Not being able to bear the guilt, the Red Blood had walked over to you.
Knowing he would later have to present a convincing excuse to Yoongi, he inhaled deeply before opening the car door.
The whole ride home was as silent as it could be, the only sound being your voice as you gave him the directions to your apartment. It felt like an eternity to you before he parked the car in its place before helping you get out. He offered to drop you all the way to your flat, and you not wanting to be rude, agreed and let him. He didn't bother to strike up a conversation as you stood next to each other in the elevator or when you walked ahead of him towards your flat.
Once you were in front of your door, you noticed him turn around to leave when you heard Jin's voice shouting in your head like an echo, 'Always invite people in when they come home to drop you, it's good manners, you should know that by now, Y/N.'
'Wait, Namjoon!' You called out to him, making him stop and turn around to face you.
'Yeah?' He stood there, and you studied his demeanor understanding that he was in no hurry.
'Would you like to come in for a cup of coffee?' You smiled at him, which was partially genuine. You were sure your face would go slack any moment from the amount if strain you used to just tug your lips upwards. It had really been an exhausting day.
'...Of course,' He let his eyes widen at your hospitality, as he always considered humans to be snobby and stuck up creatures. Keeping a snort to himself, he walked back up to you.
You opened the door and your eyes instantly scanned the floor and you saw Jin's shoes. Good, you were definitely not in a mood to chat: Jin would do that for you. You waited at the door, Namjoon seeming to take more time than usual to enter - as though he were contemplating your generous offer and his complying decision.
Oh, what the hell. It's just coffee.
How had he never felt so wrong before.
Finally when he stepped in, you guided him further into the flat and let him settle on your couch before yelling into the air for Jin.
'JIN! OPPA!' You yelled loudly, making him flinch.
Fuck, Y/N, must you be so- in the name of all evil, who is this beautiful man?
Just then a man, who seemed to be in his mid-twenties, his hair dyed a beautiful shade of baby pink walked into the room, who gave a skillful flick against your forehead for being too loud - served you right, before flipping his hair with a snap of his head, revealing a glorious amount of forehead - just right for Namjoon to swoon over.
Get a hold of yourself Nam-
'Do you have to yell, Y/N?' He heard the pink haired man - who's name supposedly was Jin, scold you. Namjoon couldn't help but slightly snicker at your expression, grabbing Jin's attention. His eyes widened as Jin stared curiously at him.
'Oh, and who may this be?' Jin asked with innocent curiosity etched in his dark eyes as he walked closer to the couch where Namjoon sat. He felt his palm sweat from where he rested them on his lap, his hands itching to wipe away the perspiration that was dripping down the side of his forehead.
'That's Namjoon, Kim Namjoon. He works with me at the cafe.' You said, before walking into the kitchen to make three cups of coffee. Now that the intervention was out-
'Hello, Namjoon.' He heard Jin speak, and he could have sworn he would have fallen right there if he hadn't held on to the hand that was stretched towards him for a handshake. 'My name is Kim Seok Jin, it's very pleasurable to meet you,' Jin smiled cutely at him, the genuineness burning through his skin.
Namjoon didn't trust his voice, so he just tightened his grip around Jin's hand. Just as Jin's fingers wrapped around his palm, he felt the back of his neck itch.
The itch, soon began to burn.
