"Wow you look so beautiful,I can't believe my small baby is getting married," She said hugging me with tears in her eyes. I turned around and swallowed the lump in my throat hugging my mom back.
"Shhh, don't cry you will ruin your make up,"she said.
"You are crying and asking me not to?"I asked stiffening my tears and raising my eyes brows.
"I am not crying," She said wiping her tears with the sleeves of her dress. Then tried smiling.
"You see, I am smiling, I am really happy......."she started saying but then broke down again.
"It's just that you are getting married, you are no more my baby,"
I stood up and hugged her, we held each other for some minutes
till one of my bridesmaid came to inform us that everything is ready, everyone is waiting for the bride."Thanks Cassie, we will be right there," My mom answered her, kissed me one more time on my forehead then covered my face with the veil. I started staring at my reflection in the mirror through the transparent veil. My hair was done in a very beautiful pun with a diamond crown holding it in place. My beautiful makeup was a little bit ruined by the tears. I turned around and saw the flowing trails of my white dress. I took a deep breathe and started heading towards the door.
"Everyone is waiting for you," Alice banged into the room with a baby in her hands.
"I am coming," I told her holding my mom's hand, my mom gave me a reassuring smile.
"Oh my God you ruined you make up," she exclaimed, I smiled shyly at her. She tsk her head then shouted,"Alicia come here, the beautiful but stupid bride needs you help, she ruined her make up,".
"Urhh," was just what we heard in answer so we proceeded to the room where the bridesmaid were getting ready, there were altogether only six of them. Cassie, Alice, Alicia, Emily, Sam and Lydia. The room was in chaos, Cassie was looking for her phone, Lydia was trying to put an eyeliner but ended up smudging it, Emily was looking for her pair of shoes and Alicia was trying to zip up her dress. The only calm one was Sam. She was seated quietly in an arm chair taking pictures with her canon camera, her red hair shinning together with the silver thing in her middle finger. I smiled inwardly , Evan had finally proposed I guessed . He kept on calling me and asking for my help last week. How shall I do it?Do you think she will accept? What if she says no?What will I do with my life?. I got tired of him and switched off my phone.
"Hello Jessie, you look beautiful let me take a picture,"she said as she hugged me smiling very sweetly. I liked her since the first day I saw her in our prom. She was so calm and collected exactly the opposite of Evan. I didn't even know how she agreed to marry someone like Evan. The day I asked Evan to go and try his luck seems like yesterday but it was about ten years back. I always bragged to him that I was the one that made him to meet the most important girl in his life.
"No way, not with this ruined make up, Alicia needs to do something about it," Alice answered her for me. Alicia went to makeup school after graduating and before going to college and now own's the most popular make up and hair saloon. I whispered sorry to Sam as Alice dragged me and dumped me on a chair in front of a mirror. She smiled and went back to her seat taking pictures of other things. She will get tired of taking pictures of me today, I thought.
"Alicia where the hell are you,"Alice shouted. Alicia came out of a bathroom with a smudge make up, unhappy face and unzipped dress.
"What's wrong,"I asked.
"I am getting too fat, my dress couldn't even fit me," she said tears threatening to fall down. I laughed in my heart as I looked down at her big tummy, hormones I thought. Alicia got married to Rivers last year and is expecting a baby soon. Alice and I shared a look then Alice smiled sweetly at her.
