"Wow you look so stunning,"Alicia whispered behind me.

"Not as stunning as you look,"I told her.

It was prom night and we just finished getting ready and were looking at the full length mirror of Alicia's room. We all looked really beautiful, like really , really beautiful. I never thought I could ever look this beautiful. I was wearing a greenish blue ball gown that makes my eyes to shine as Alicia said. It was tight to the waist and flowed afterwards. It has sliver stones circling the waist and in the neck. My hair was done in a very neat bun with a flower crown on top by Alicia's mom who owns the best hairdressing saloon in the town . My make up was done perfectly by the make up expert , Alicia.

Alicia's dress was a yellow mermaid dress that flowed some inches behind her back. Her hair was flowing down her back with a similar flower crown on her head. Her make up was also beautifully done by her. It was a little bit heavier than mine.

"If you are done admiring yourselves, come downstairs and let's take some pictures,"her mom shouted from downstairs. We laughed then hold hands walking downstairs.

"Wow, you look breathtaking,"her mom said immediately.

"My babies are all grown ups now,"she said stiffening tears and hugging us tightly.

"Am so sorry I was not there through out your high school life,"she whispered holding her daughter affectionally. I left them to have a daughter and mother moment as I entered the living room and started thinking about Nate.

If he is here will he be my date?

All my life I have never thought I would go to prom with someone else and not him.

He is not here and he will never be. It is prom night. I should stop thinking about him and enjoy this once in a life time thing.

I heard the car horn and Alicia's mom asked me to open the door. I opened the door and saw two handsome young men dressed in black suit with polished shoes and neatly brushed hair each with a flower in his hand.

Rivers bowed down and handed me the rose flower, then took my hand and kissed my knuckles saying in a fake accent"you look beautiful my lady".

I smiled at his gesture, held the rose flower and smelled it's beautiful scent.

"Here,"Rivers said taking the flower from my hand and putting it in my hair where it fitted nicely besides my flower crown.

"Are we in the 1960s?" Evan said. He then pointed to the flower in my head,"This is soooooo oldish," he said making some gestures with his hand. I laughed and punched him in his shoulders playfully then ushered them in. We took more pictures with Alicia's mom making us to do some crazy faces then started getting ready to go. Alicia's mom said good bye by the door and each young man extended his hand to the young woman and walked her to his car, opening the passenger's door for her. Just as I was about to enter the car, I saw a pinkish something in Alicia's hair.

"Wait, what's that," I asked pointing to the flower in her hair.

"Evan said I looked beautiful with the flower there," she said. I turned around and looked at him.

"I thought it's too oldish," I said moving my hands the way he did few seconds ago. Evan laughed touching his neck then entered his car. We followed suit. I watched the trees thinking about what a year it was as Rivers drove away with soft music playing in the Radio. I watched as we passed the green trees, I watched the city lights, I watched how cars passed by us and I watched dark sky. I didn't kno2 whether it was because of the song playing but I started feeling a lump in my throat. It was such a long year. I can't believe am done with high school. I can't believe ten months ago, Nate didn't know who I was. I remembered all those struggles we went through just so that Nate could remember me. I remembered the sleepless night I had when I came back here and thought all my friends had changed. I remembered how much I cried that first day in school and many other days, I remembered....
