“Hey Lils!” called Cassie as she caught sight of her friend from the other side of the platform.
“Did you have a good summer Cass?”
“Yeah it was good thanks; how was Petunia?” she asked with a smirk.
“Same as always; locked herself up in her room and pretended that we didn’t exist,” said Lily a little sadly.
Cassie laughed. “Is that a Prefect badge that I see on your cloak Miss Evans?”
“Yeah,” said Lily with a grin.
“Well done! I always knew you’d get it!”
“Thanks, but you could have done too.”
“No, I lack certain necessary qualities…”
“Like what?”
“Like being an interfering busybody,” teased Cassie as Lily threatened to strangle her. “I can’t wait to catch up on the train. Oh look! Witnesses! You can’t kill me now!” crowed Cassie as Alice and Mary appeared next to them.
“How are you? How was your summer?” they chattered simultaneously. “Are you a Prefect Lily? Well done!”
“I can’t,” she said as she answered Cassie, “Prefects have to go and have some sort of meeting in the Prefect carriage. I don’t know when it finishes but I’ll come and find you as soon as it does,” she said as they climbed onto the train, the whistle blowing and steam obscuring everyone on the platform as the train pulled away.
“Oh right. Ok then.”

“You’ll never guess who the other Gryffindor Prefect is!” announced Lily as she entered their carriage towards the end of the journey, her badge pinned onto her robes.
“Who?”
“Remus Lupin!”
“The quiet boy who hangs out with Potter and Black?” asked Mary.
“Yeah. He’s quite sweet actually which is surprising when you look at his friends,” she said as she sat down beside them and shut the compartment doors. “Coincidentally, someone else was there as well,” she said angrily.
“Who? There’s only two Prefects from each year isn’t there?”
“Yes but that doesn’t include Quidditch Captains,” she said frustrated. “And out of everyone in the whole team Potter was made Captain!” she cried.

“This year is extremely important for each and every one of you,” said Professor McGonagall in their first Transfiguration lesson of the year. “Your O.W.L.s are at the end of this year and these exam results will almost certainly determine your future. I expect you all to work as hard as you can in my lessons. Now, we will begin with Vanishing. Vanishing is the opposite of Summoning and causes an object to disappear…”
“I’m scared already,” whispered Cassie to Alice as Lily made pages and pages of notes. “Five years of work to revise for the summer, I’m going to have a breakdown by Christmas.”
“Relax Cass, you’re really clever and you have an amazing memory; you’ll be perfectly fine,” said Mary as they practised the incantation.
“Thank the wizard god I don’t want to do History of Magic for N.E.W.T. because I’m definitely going to fail that!”
