Lunch hour at school the next day...
"Ugh I can't wait for next week's new schedules. I can't stand being in classes with people that are not my close friends. It's aggravating and awkward." I told Joy as we walked to a table with our food.
Then I saw Lei from another part of the cafeteria and waved at her.
"Hey, Lei! Come sit with us!" I yelled to her as she got her food and walked alone to Joy and I.
The boys were hanging out together somewhere else for the day. I guess they wanted some guy-time away from us. But I knew I would see them sometime later.
"Hey guys." Lei said as she sat down with her tray of cafeteria food.
"What's up girl?" Joy and I both said as we gave her hugs.
"Aaahh, nothing much. Just excited about the game today. Oh and our sleepover!" Lei said clapping her hands.
"Oh, you already found out about that? I was gonna tell you about it yesterday but I forgot." I told her.
"Yeah, Joy texted me about it, and I asked my parents. They said it was cool." Lei said grinning widely.
I was happy. We made a new friend and so did Lei. It was nice to have another girl friend once in a while when you hang out with a bunch of guys (plus your girl best friend of course).
Lei started talking after her and I knew from there they were already absorbed into the conversation too much to think about anything else. "Yeah, I planned it all out yesterday. It's gonna be at my house, and after I told my mom about it she said my Dad and her could go spend the night at a hotel or something, so we could have the whole house to ourselves. Oh yes!"
Then I finally jumped into the conversation and felt the excitement as well. "Aww. This is gonna be great, we can watch a bunch of movies, mess around with makeup, talk about boys-"
"Uh, Rose. There's something I need to tell you. I thought it was important and I wanted to let you know about it," Lei said suddenly cutting me off. Her face was serious now and I knew the subject of our sleepover was now long gone.
"What is it Lei?" I asked concerned.
She looked around then at both of us and leaned in. "During soccer practice yesterday, when I went back to the girls' locker room to get my water bottle, I heard two guys talking in the hall. But I wasn't sure who it was because I didn't want them to know I was there listening, so I just stayed behind the corner, unable to catch a glimpse of their faces. I'm guessing it was guys from the soccer team, but I'm not sure. I kind of have an idea.
"What were they talking about?" Joy chimed in also curious.
"Well they were talking about you, Rose. One of the guys likes you and I think he's gonna confess to you soon. He seems pretty serious about it though and it sounded like he really likes you. He was saying how he liked you even before Bobby liked you, and how you have a unique personality, and how you're just...amazing. Cheesy stuff like that. I just wanted to let you know, and I think I know who it is.
"Who?!" Joy and I both asked dumbfounded by Lei's announcement.
"I think it's-"
"Hello, ladies! May we sit here with you three?"
A sudden male voice interrupted Lei and put his arm around my shoulder. But it wasn't who I was expecting. It was Minhyuk.
It was Minhyuk and Chanyoung to be exact. (The two soccer team mates of Bobby from Chapter 18 that were talking to him about how he feels toward Rose. Do you remember that?) They kind of reminded me of Jinhwan and Yunhyeong. The way they're always together in a pair and how they're close like best friends. They're not that bad-looking either, except I don't know them all that well like I know Jinhwan and Yunhyeong.
"Hey, guys! What brings you two here?" Joy asked as she smiled at them.
I was kind of uncomfortable under Minhyuk's arm but I didn't do anything about it. That would make stuff awkward.
"Well nothing much, just wanted to hang out with a couple of beautiful ladies for a bit." Minhyuk said smiling directly at me.
That smile. It was cute and familiar. I suddenly remembered the day, yesterday actually, when he wanted to tell me something but we were interrupted by Bobby. I wondered about what he wanted to tell me. What if it had something to do with what Lei was telling me? I also recalled how Chanyoung pulled Minhyuk away from me when Bobby came as if we did something wrong.
I was so deep in thought when I was suddenly interrupted by Chanyoung. "Actually Rose, Minhyuk has something to tell you. Don't you Minhyukkie?"
Minhyuk glared at him and whispered loud enough for me to hear. "Not right now, dumbass. I told you, not until after the game." He turned from Chanyoung to us and smiled. "Can we just hang out with you guys instead for today?"
"Uuuhh...sure. I mean why not? That's totally cool, right guys?" The girls just nodded and smiled.
The rest of the lunch hour that's exactly what we did. We hung out like regular friends and laughed and joked around with each other. It was nice and different.
Then the bell rang and we all cleaned up our food and trash. "We'll see you ladies later at the game, alright? You're coming to watch right Joy?" Chanyoung asked.
"Yeah of course. Always there to support my best friends." Joy said signaling to Lei and I.
"Cool cool. Well we gotta go, so we'll see you guys. Bye Rose." Minhyuk said waving. He suddenly gave me a hug out of nowhere and I got startled. I was about to react but he was already walking away with Chanyoung to their class.
"Woah! What was all that about?" Joy said laughing as we walked to our classes. "Those guys are something else. But they're also pretty cute."
Lei smirked at her and raised her eyebrows. Then Joy parted from us and walked into her class as we passed by it. That only left Lei and I, and we had the same period together.
"So are you nervous about the game?" I asked her as we walked.
"Rose forget that for now. I needed to tell you that the guys I heard in the bathroom yesterday could possibly be the ones we were literally just hanging out with." She said turning serious.
"What do you mean?" I asked her.
"Rose, I think Minhyuk likes you."
