I was headed to Starbucks two hours before I had to meet Mia, I needed coffee. I walked in, and got in line. When I reached the front, it was Alex.

"Alex, hi." I said shyly.

"Hi, what can I get you?" she asked monotonously.

"Vanilla latte, extra vanilla."

"Vanilla latte!" She called back. I handed her the money for the drink, and waited. I got my drink and sat down. I took a sip. They forgot the extra vanilla.

"Um, excuse me," I said to the guy making the drinks.

"Yes?"

"You forgot the extra vanilla."

"The cup doesn't say it." Alex. She did this.

"Alex and I were friends, but she pretty much hates me now... I paid for it, I swear. If I get service like hers again, I will never drink Starbucks from here again, and I know one of the managers, and I'll have to explain why I won't go in the store with 'em." Lies. I didn't know the manager.

"Oh, sorry. Let me fix that." He grabbed my cup away, and poured extra vanilla in it.

I smiled. "Thanks," I said. I sat back at the table for a minute. Then I went outside. I got in my car and drove to a different Starbucks to get Thomas' drink, fearful for what Alex would do. I went back to the apartment, and woke up Thomas.

"Thomaaaaaassssss!" I said, sitting on him.

"Wha- huh, Madalyn, why can't I sit up?" He rubbed his eyes. "Oh. That's why." He shoved me over, and sat up.

"Coffee in the kitchen," I said, and went to the door. "And we have lunch with a friend of mine." I walked out of the room.

"This better not be a date set up." he called after me.

"It isn't. It's me, you, and Mia."

"Oh. Cool. I"ve wanted to get to know her." I was in my room now, and was getting changed into something less casual, but not dressy.

We went to Starbucks to meet her an hour later.

"Mia! This is Thomas," I gestured to him.

"He's tall." she giggled, and I giggled too. Thomas was on his phone.

"Hi, I'm tree. Nice to meet you." he joked, sticking a hand out, face glued to the screen. Mia and I nearly collapsed from laughing so hard. We walked to a cafe around the corner. We ordered, I got a few pastries, and a cream soda.

"I'll be back, I'm going to use the restroom," I said, excusing myself. I came 5 minutes later. Mia and I had come up with a code. A wink, followed by a voice clear was a 'he doesn't like you back' while two winks in a row, he liked me. She looked at me.

"Hey. I'm back." Mia winked. I was waiting for the second half.

"Madalyn, did you put Mia up to asking me if I like you?" He asked. I pretended to be shocked and confused. I only really had to pretend at the confused part. I was shocked he asked.

"What?! Mia! What would you do that?" I said. She winked a second time. OH. MY. GOD. Thomas liked me back.

"I was curious..." she said, looking guilty, but not remorseful.

"Well, she knows my answer and should not tell you. Regardless of what it was." he said, his face turning red.

"Okay, I swear I won't tell anyone anything, like at all from now on."

"Who did you tell? You've been sitting here the whole time!" Thomas looked alarmed.

"No one." she smiled. I sat down. I had forgotten I was standing.

"What was your answer?" I asked, grinning. I wiggled my eyebrows, and then burst out laughing at myself.

"Like I'd tell you!" He said, laughing.

"Okay, well if the answer was no you wouldn't care... so I'm assuming..." I said, pausing. Thomas was beet red.
