It's over

Sakura's POV

I watched as Itachi's body dropped to the ground. I could tell from his eyes, he was dead. I looked back up to Sasuke, who had his hand extended out to me.

"I repeat, why did you hesitate? He could've killed you." He said to me.

I took his hand and stood up. I saw the worry in his eyes.

"I couldn't steal what you wanted so badly." I said to him.

He quickly embraced me and held me close.

"I let that go a long time ago, Sakura." He said as he made me look at him, "The only thing I want is you, now."

"Sakura! Sasuke! Are you guys alright?" I heard a male voice behind us.

"Yes, Kakashi-sensei. Sakura is a little cut up but she held her own against my brother." Sasuke said with a smile, "It's finally over."

Kakashi sighed a breath of relief. I turned to face the village. It was in ruins.

"How is the state of the villagers?" I asked him as I turned to face him.

"A few homes were lost, but thankfully no one was seriously injured. A few cuts and bruises here and there. There was only a few attackers that came with Itachi and they were easily struck down." Kakashi said to me.

"Good. I want everyone helping in the construction. I will send out funds to help the people whose homes were lost. For now, help them all find a place to stay until the construction is completed." I said to both Kakashi and Sasuke.

"Hai." They both said and set off to help.

"Oh, Sasuke. Send a team to retrieve your brother'a body. Please, let me know what you wish to do with him." I said to him.

He nodded and left with Kakashi. There was a lot of work to be done, but everyone was safe.

Five months later

Finally, the construction of the village was complete and people were finally back into their homes. For now the village was at peace. I gave back the Hokage position to Kakashi a month after the attack. My place to help was out in the field, not stuck behind a desk.  Finally, it was over.
