Chapter 8

Tyler's POV

When I get to school I wait by the front door for Josh, he still hasn't replied to my message from last night but he probably hasn't seen it or his phone is just dead. I decide to text him again.

Tyler: hey Josh where are you, I'm waiting outside. Ly

Tyler: I meant to put Ty, not love you. Cuz my names Tyler ❤

I'm an actual idiot.

Tyler: I didn't mean to put the heart! I meant to put the 😂 emoji.

Wow, I've probably freaked him out now.... why are my fingers so fat? I actually can't text to save my life.

I wait for a few more minutes and still no reply, I decide that maybe he's already in class so I quickly run there, no sign of him....

After first period I check my phone as I walk alone to second. He'd seen the message, he'd seen it but hadn't replied.... what have I done? He thinks I like him... like, like LIKE him....

For the rest of the day all I can think about is whether Josh now hates me, I try to think of ways that he just didn't reply by accident but they seem very unlikely.

So I am alone once again, being taunted by bullies and hiding in the toilets at lunch, I can't go to lunch in the canteen... so I prefer to hide in the toilets. And of course I have to attend my stupid detention, throughout the thing an annoying kid who was sitting behind me kept kicking my back and muttering insulting words to me, the teacher didn't seem to notice.

Finally, after school I'm ready to go home and call Josh, maybe even go to his house, but I get stopped on my way out.

"Hey dumbass! Where's your boyfriend? You scared him off already? Wow! Even other gay kids don't like you!" Shouts a kid, whilst another, even bigger one pushes me to the ground, "will you ever find a friend? Or will you always be a lonely, worthless piece of shit?" He says as I try to get up, but he runs at me and kicks me in the gut, making me fall back, wheezing. Then they run.

After a few minutes I get up, they'd all gone. I walk home, it takes me a while as every time I move I get a stabbing pain in my stomach, but eventually I get there.

He was right, I've scared off my only friend, I am a worthless piece of shit.... I shouldn't even bother trying to talk to Josh, he hates me. My only proper friend, Joshua William Dun...
