6. Grow up (part 2)

Riley's P.O.V.

I was really excited to turn the lights on, "you just need to press the button, and that's all" Adam told me yesterday.

- So, when I press this small button, this small thing here lights up using solar energy - I said and proceed to press the red button. I lighted up the whole place, and then it faded and lighted up again, my eyes wide at the light set in front of me. A penis, that's all I could see, a lighting shining penis was covering the whole thing. I tried to turn them off, it didn't work though, so I just grab the wire and pulled it, but sadly I ruined the stupid scale model. I looked up and all the head executives were trying not to burst out laughing, I knew by now Mr Evans wasn't a fan of this type of jokes. God, I am so losing this job. I didn't have to ask who did this, I knew it was him. And there he was trying not to laugh in front of me, looking straigth into my eyes. I had to breathe in and out a lot of times so I wouldn't scream and murder Adam in front of this people, I nervously tried to fix everything again, my cheeks were now red and heating.

- God, I'm so sorry, I don't know what went wrong with this - I said feeling my eyes swell with tears, I took deep breaths, this was too low, even for Adam.

- Come with me Ms Jhonson - Mr. Evans finally spoke to me - Gentleman, I think we've seen enough for now -he said to the executives, and then turned on his heels to leave the lab with me by his side.

- Would you mind to explain what happened there? - he said talking in a low tone but still angry.

- I don't know, I'm sure Adam messed with them , he helped me last night to get them set, I'm sure he planned this to sabotage me - I answered

- Riley, you can't just blame him because of that stupid feud you have. It's your team, so you are responsible for all their actions, you know that already, so fix that or the project is out. - he concluded and left.

Fuck Adam, I've worked so hard on that stupid project and he just walks in and ruins everything in matter of two weeks. Whoe the fuck does he think he is to come in and just screw everything? Does he even know where he is working at? God, I'm so gonna kill him after this. I whipe my tears away and do my best to fix my make up in the bathroom. My eyes were still red and puffy when I walked back in the lab, they all stopped what they were doing and looked at me with expectation, I wasn't in the mood to make a scene yelling at Adam, so I just kept walking and took my seat next to paul and started fixing what I ruined earlier.

After 3 hours of hardwork all he walls and machines are working again, all except the stupid lights, I had to use another set of light bulbs to fix Adams stupid joke, I sent them all to have lunch, since we've been locked here for a long time, I started again on the light setting, this time I knew what to do and were to weld the wires, after 45 minutes I was ready to test the lights on the model, I was arrenging the machinery when someone came into the lab, I didn't mind to lift my head to see who it was, I was haing a bad hair day and my eyes were swollen.

- Hey, can I help you this time? - Adam said, hell no, I'm not taking his offer this time.

- Leave - I said sharply, not looking at him

- Oh, come on, are you going to ignore me forever? - he said jokingly, I lifted my head to look at him he couldn't be joking right now.

- hey, that's a good idea, finally something smart comes out of your mouth - I said glaring at him

- Come on Ray, it was just a small prank, don't you have a sense of humor? - he said again

- Don't call me Ray ever again, ok? and yes I have a sense of humor, now leave - I snapped, who the fuck does he think he is to call me "Ray"?

- Riley, don't be a child let me help you, you know I can do it - he said trying to pull the light set from my hands 

- I am being a child? Am I? Fuck you Adam, How stupid you need to be to joke with someone's job? Do you know how much I studied and how many nights I've stayed here to get this job? do you? - I said pulling the lights.

- Oh right, cause miss perfect needs a perfect job, and a perfect team, and a perfect project - he said mimicking my voice

- Let go, Adam, I need to fix your mess, Don't you understand I'm losing my job because of you?- I said pulling, and so did him, and it finally broke into small pieces, not this shit again. - See? you keep screwing everything you touch, leave! - I let go all the fury inside me.

- Riley, I'm sorry I didn't mean it... I... don't... - He said slowly and kneeling to pick up the small pieces scattered on the floor, I couldn't take it, this is the second time today he destroys my hard work. That was it, I lose it and inmediately tears started rolling down my cheeks and into the broken pieces I had in my hand.

- Leave! leave me alone, you ruin everything - I yelled at him, he stared at me silently and then walked out of the lab, I was all alone now, with tons of work to do and another light set broken in my hands.

I whiped harshly my tears, I can't believe I let him see me crying, I bet he is now making fun of me with everyone out there. I picked up all the broken pieces and throw them in a trash can, and got my self another light set to finally fix the model, Amy, Paul and Jack came back soon, we fixed everything and by 4 p.m when we were all ready to leave, Adam walked through the doors with a small box on his hands, he gathered someof his belongings and left almost inmediately without saying a word.

- What was that? - I asked Amy when Paul and Jack already left the lab.

- I heard he talked to Mr. Evans, but I'm not sure if he quit his job or if Mr. Evans kick him out.

- Oh, I see - I said feeling slightly guilty, but wtf he messed up our job, and Karma is a bitch - I still can't believe what he did. - I said shaking my head in desbelief

- I know, it was his work too, I think he is having a bad time getting used to this job. It's a shame though he is leaving, he is pretty smart when it comes to his job - she said and we started walking outside of the building.

- I know, he works really fast even tough he is an asshole. - I said looking for my car keys in my purse - Need I ride? - I asked Amy when we got to the parking lot, she nodded her head and climbed in.

- I still think he is hot, does it make me a bad person if I'll only miss watching his muscles stretch through his shirt everyday? - she asked as we hit the streets, I bursted out laughing

- You are a horrible person, Amy - I said and kept laughing at her innocence.

I woke up the next morning, changed my clothes, had breakfast, tried my best on my makeup and got to the office with a huge grin plastered on my face. I took the elevator and walked to my office clacking my black heels to the floor and huge surprise I found when I opened the door and found, not one but two desks in my office...
