Jacey

My heart was beating a mile a minute as my brother Shad drove us to Nyree's house. He and Ray luckily came back just in time to help with our little rescue mission. The gang was all here, all of us following each other in a long line of trucks. Half of us were goin to Nyree's while the other half went to go and pay a visit to Raoul's estate just in case things were already movin along quicker than we anticipated. Everybody was ready, everybody was loaded and still I was nervous. I just wanted for shit to go smoothly without my babies gettin hurt.

I looked in the backseat over at Erin who was loading and unloading her weapons. Against my better judgement, my big sister talked her way into this job. Phaedra on the other hand took my advice and decided to stay home at Monty's just to hold down the fort. Now that Erin was here with us, I couldn't say much but I was gonna make sure she got the simplest task. She may be mad at me, but I refuse for her to get hurt; I didn't care how much of a marksman she was. "Hey, E." I whispered to her. She stopped just as she screwed on her silencer. She looked up at me curiously, "I know you not still tryna give me some simple ass job to do. I can handle myself, Jacey. Don't forget who taught yo black ass how to shoot."

I shook my head with a laugh; my sister knew me so well. "I wouldn't say it's a simple ass job. If anything it's one of the most important ones." I explained. If shit were to go left, I had to make sure no one on my side got hurt. We've been planning all week, and now today was the day. No matter how many plans we come up with, no matter how many ways we turn it, none of us know the outcome.

"I know it's not part of the plan, but if anything happens, E; anything at all, you grab Lacey, take these keys and get the hell out of here. Just look for the white Beamer down the street." She looked at me funny, which I figured she would. Erin's job was to stay outside near the car and play lookout, but knowin how antsy she is that job won't be enough for her. This job would better satisfy her; make her feel like she's really doin somethin.

Erin nod her head and went back to cleaning her pistols. I looked down at my watch; the sale was supposed to happen tonight. It was early in the morning and the sun wasn't out which was an advantage for us. We had exactly 8 hours left. I held on to my friend, Victor the Vector a little tighter once I heard Ray speak up. "Turn left on Rosemary." We were pulling up to the house. I couldn't help but eyeball every single thing on their street, looking for anything out of place.

I sat back as we pulled up to Nyree's house. "Go around the corner fam." Monty instructed from the backseat. Shad nod his head and quickly maneuvered to the side of the lot which in my opinion wasn't very smart. Now we would have to run more than a few feet with a damsel in distress and a toddler. Not to mention Jourdin and his posse if they were even here.

Looking up at the house, it looked completely vacant. No car in the driveway, no recent leaks on the pavement... 'Maybe he parked in the garage?' I thought to myself as I walked over to the mailbox that hadn't been emptied yet. "Somethin ain't right." I spoke up. Monty, Ray, Shad, and Erin all walked in single file as they approached the driveway where I was standing. We weren't too much worried about bein seen; we were wearin all black, down to our socks and shoes.

The only person that didn't blend in completely was Ray since he was the only bright one. He had a black beanie to cover his locks, and a matching pair of gloves. I nod my head in approval; at least he wasn't a rookie with this. "What's not right?" he asked, grabbing the unopened mail from my hands. "It feels like nobody is here." Everything was untouched, except for the fact that the lawn looked impeccable. There were no toys laying around, no lawn decorations. Everything about this house was impersonal from what I saw on the outside.
