Jacey

I could feel her eyes burning a hole in my back as I pulled my shirt over my head. With an innocent smile, I turned to her sitting criss-cross on the bed with her arms folded. "Im not goin with you; there's no way in hell." Nyree said before I could even open my mouth to speak. I planted a kiss to her forhead and caressed her much smaller hands into my larger ones.
She quickly yanked her  away, frowning up at me. "I don't wanna hear that shit, Jacey. Go 'head and leave, me and Lacey will be here when you get back." She mumbled as she lay back in bed to continue cuddling Lacey. Just last week I surprised them with the fully furnished bedroom I had designed just for Lacey, and yet she's yet to sleep in there a full night; too many nightmares. Nyree doesn't too much try to get her to sleep by herself, but I guess I couldn't blame her. They've been through a lot.
They've only moved in 3 weeks ago, so everything was still new to them both. "C'mon love, we're adults! Can't we all just talk it out?" I smiled childishly, already knowing the answer. "Fuck no. There's no talkin to that bitch; one wrong word, and I'll be quick to punch that hoe in the throat. She'll be coughin up every drop of sperm she ever swallowed." I choked back a laugh as I stepped into my shoes. "Who said there was gonna be a fight?"
"Chassidy's mouth! Besides, your son is gonna be there. I'd hate for him to see his mama get her ass beat." She rolled over with her back facing me, indicating that she was done with our conversation. "Again?" I couldn't help but smirk as she buried herself under the blanket. "What?" She groaned. "Babe, Jr was in the car that day; he saw everything."
Nyree slowly sat up as the realization set in. "He was, wasn't he? Dammit man." She shook her head. Leaning against the headboard, she blankly stared ahead at the wall. "I hope he's not mad at me. I really didn't want him to have to see that." Nyree whispered shamefully. "I doubt that he is." I assured her as I scanned the room for the keys to my Audi A6. She shot me a mischievous grin. "Good, then you can go and get him by yourself."
I gave a defeated sigh and sat down on the edge of the bed. I really didnt wanna go without her. I reached out for hand again, thankful she didn't pull away this time around. As messed up as it may have been, Chassidy seeing 'Ree at my mom's was like a declaration. It was my way of telling the whole world that Nyree Alexis Preston was mine, and could be replaced or substituted with no one.
I finally got the woman I had been  planning to make Mrs. Jacey J.E. Shotter back in my arms. Now that she was here, I had to do everything I could to keep her. "I don't care how my baby mama feels. She knows about us now, so what she does with that information is up to her."
Nyree rolled her eyes as she rolled out of bed. I smiled in triumph as I watched her saunter over towards the closet to pick out some clothes. "I'm only going 'cause Im tired of you bein all in my face about it. If we end up fightin' again, it's on you." She mumbled, proceeding to snatch a shirt from off the hanger. "No more fightin' babe; not while you're carryin my baby." I teased. It had only been about a week or two since I broke the news to her; news that she refuses to believe.
Naturally, 'Ree's smart ass went out and bought a stick to piss on just to prove a point. To my disappointment, the results came back negative. I still wasn't worried; like I said before, she was still early in the stages. All that was left for me to do was to wait a few more days until 'Ree missed her cycle.
"I'm not fuckin' pregnant!" She yelled, throwing one of Lacey's shoes at me. I leaned to the side just enough for the tiny sneaker to miss me by a few inches. I jumped up before she stooped down to reach for the other. I knew it was only the hormones talking, so I chose to take her sudden burst of anger lightly.
With very little effort, I picked her up, letting her legs find home around my waist. As I pressed her against the wall of our walk-in-closet, I couldn't help but smile when I felt the little pudge that was pressing against my stomach. "I'm tellin' you love, breast feeding isn't that bad once you get used to it." I whispered in her ear with a chuckle.
Nyree pushed me away from her, quickly landing on her own two feet before storming out of the closet. "Fuck you, Jacey." She muttered, in an attempt to slam the door shut. Following behind her, I stopped at the sight of Lacey sitting up in bed. "'Morning little lady." I smiled as she reached out for me. "Goodmorning." She whispered back with a yawn.
"Where did mommy go?" I asked her as I looked around the room. My watch told me it was going on 10:00; we had to be at Chassidy's by 10:30 before she left for work. She claimed Jr was sick, but I knew that wasn't true. I know because of the run in she had with 'Ree, she was trying to keep me away from my son out of spite. Jr had to know too, and he knew how to play his mama. Being the kid the he is, he only does it when neccessary. Playing sick was just his way of saying he needed to talk to me.
Coincidentally, both Chassidy's mom and mine were both working today and couldn't watch him so naturally I was the last resort. I never understood how he could always time their workdays like that; the kid was just that good. Lacey shrugged her shoulders, pointing toward the empty hallway. "She ran that way."
With Lacey still in my arms, I walked out into the hall and was met with what sounded like gagging. I looked in the direction of the bathroom with a smirk. When I opened the door, I caught sight of Nyree standing over the toilet, painting the inside of the bowl an odd shade of pink. "That morning sickness is a bitch ain't it?" I grinned, causing Lacey to smile with me.
'Ree said nothing as she flushed the toilet. She simply gave me the finger, and simply went over to the sink to brush her teeth. "What's morning sickness?" Lacey questioned. "Don't you dare answer that question!" Nyree hissed, pushing her way out of the bathroom. "Why not? Doesn't she deserve to know that she's gonna be a big s-i-s-t-e-r?" I spelled out since I knew Lacey couldn't too much spell yet.
"No you cannot, 'cause there is no b-a-b-y." She countered, apparently still in denial. I wasn't about to keep buggin her about it. I had already called around for the best OB-GYN and made an appointment for later on this Thursday. Of course she was gonna give me hell about it, but 'Ree will thank me once she finally accepts it. I helped her get Lacey dressed which resulted in us leaving in less than a few minutes.
