Just friends? [Norminah fanfic]

chapter one

Today is the first day of college for Dinah. It took a lot of convincing, but her parents had allowed her to focus on her singing career, instead of going to law school. Dinah's first class today is advanced choir.

Dinah walks into the classroom and is in awe. This is the start of a new era in her life. She felt ready to take on anything.

There aren't any desks, but there are risers, where people are already sitting. Dinah doesn't know who to sit by. She didn't know anyone. She ends up spotting a shorter girl by herself. She goes over to introduce herself.

"Mind if I sit with you?" Dinah asks.

"Sure. What's your na-" the smaller girl starts to respond but she is interrupted as a blonde, middle aged lady rushes into the classroom, slamming the door behind her.

"Sorry I'm late," the lady is out of breath, "Traffic was terrible and I needed some coffee. I'm Mrs. Stanford, your advanced choir instructor!"

Dinah decides that she likes Mrs. Stanford. She seemed cool enough.

"Now, as I was saying," the frazzled teacher claps her hands once, "Let's take attendance!"

As Mrs. Stanford drones on through the list of people, Dinah looks around the room, scoping out the rest of her classmates.

"Dinah Jane Hansen?"

Snapping back to reality, Dinah yells "HERE!" Much too loud.

"Oh someone's excited." Mrs Stanford laughs, causing the rest of the class to laugh as well. Dinah wasn't even ashamed, she was excited.

"Allyson Hernandez?"

"Um, can you call me Ally?" The smaller girl asks who's sitting next to her. So that's her name. Dinah made a mental note not to forget.

"Ok, and Normani Hamilton?"

A dark skinned girl smiles and raises her hand. She was beautiful. Dinah saw her and did a double take.

Dinah always considered herself to be straight, she had many boyfriends throughout middle school and high school. But then she saw her and Dinah's life turned upside down.
