The Schoolroom
10:30
"Well... I don't mind."
"Thanks."
Alistar smiled at the teacher.
She smiled back.
The morning light shone into the room, lighting up the two. All the other kids were outside at the porch, playing.
"Why me?" asked Miss Wonders.
"I tried Miss Tibbet before, it was a nice picture. She said I should draw the other boys. I did, but I am not satisfied.
"I drew the postman, the paperboy, the flower girl, the cook, everyone I've met. And I want to draw you too."
"Oh, I see."
"The boys say you're very pretty."
"Oh!" and she blushed scarlet.
As they chatted on, Alistar made quick strokes in his notebook.
"I love drawing, you know, it's my life."
"I can understand that point."
"Here, done. What do you think?"
He raised his sketch proudly towards Miss Wonders, who stared at it, mouth wide open.
"Does look like me, truly."
"Can I show you some others?"
"Sure, I'd love to see your works."
So Alistar proudly presented his drawings, one by one. From his little sketchbooks, to paintings hanging in the hallways.
"This is...?"
"Oh, Wonderland. I love the book. How Alice dreamt of that place was... magical, though there is a lot of madness and nonsense. I wish, it were real, then I could travel it all. This is just what I thought it may look like."
"It is good. It looks just like Wonderland. What about the Looking Glass World?"
"That?Haven't read that yet, but I really want to. Just, I don't have the money to own it."
"What if, you have it?"
"That will be the greatest gift ever! Besides my Alice's Adventures in Wonderland book."
"Oh, I see."
Just then, the bell rang, he boys rushed into the house. Alistar followed them, so did Miss Wonders.
Another lesson was about to begin.
