Alistar's POV
We lined up on the cliff, the King of Hearts standing beside us.
"The Drop is a tradition and I was also a dropper, I guess, not the science lab equipment. Well, it's held twice a year. One is today and the other is by the end of the year. I was kind of shocked when I am asked to be this ceremony guy," he smiled.
The crowd gave a small laugh.
"I rarely do these ceremonies," continued the King. "But my daughter requested me to hold it this year on this day. We have quite a number of interesting participants... including a long lost resident, or we should say assumed lost, and turning 12 today as well."
He looked pointedly at me and continued,"Anyway, I won't drag any longer. Let them drop, and the rest will be fine."
The crowds clapped politely and the King announced taking out a scroll, "I will call you by alphabetical order. And the alphabetical order I mean is according to your family name, so don't ask silly questions. First up, Luna Arcstone."
The girl called Luna stepped up and ran straight towards the edge and fell off. There was a distant crash of water down below. What a show.
One by one the kids were called and they dropped down the cliff, diving, jumping, or whatever they find fine.
Then the King called,"Alistar Michael Hatter."
I walked up front, peering at the sea down below. The Sea of Wonder doesn't look as wondrous as it sounds. Waves lapping and ripples forming. The chattering voices of the crowd was far away from me.
Come, come, the sea seemed to call.
And so I stretched out my arms, embracing the wind and I lept to my feet, at the same time thrusting myself toward. I felt myself falling down into an endless portal.
And I crashed, headfirst into the sea, sinking deep down. That's when I saw a whirl of fire. It practically swallowed me whole and I struggled for breath. The Fire Whirl pulled me deep down, and I mean very deep.
I guess it was my end.
Goodbye world.
And I blacked out.
