Chapter 25: Linking

"That man you killed was linked with her. He already died so now she's just a ticking bomb."

I looked at Suigetsu in confusion and horror. From afar Kyoko only downcast her scarlet eyes.

"Kyoko..is this true?" I asked her, while Suigetsu continued to grip onto my shirt.

She lightly nodded her head before turning her back to me. I pushed Suigetsu away from me and ran to her. I engulfed her in my arms and held tightly onto her.

"Why didn't you tell me this?" I asked while resting my chin on the top of her head.

"I didn't find it to be important."

"You think it's not important?! Are you serious?! How can something like this not be important?!"

Her scarlet eyes looked into my onyx ones blankly. She pulled my head down, into the crook of her neck and rubbed my back soothingly. She held onto the sides of my face and moved it toward hers to have our lips meet.

"Karin can help. I'm certain." Suigetsu spoke, "The difficult thing will be getting her to cooperate."

"I'll handle that." Responded Sasuke-kun.

Once Suigetsu had dressed into his attire, the three set out to Karin. She knew they were coming from miles ahead.

In a matter of days, they invaded her lab. She wasn't caught by surprise, but rather she was already prepared to leave.

"Why does Kyoko have a curse mark?" Sasuke immediately questioned.

"I have her files over here." Karin spoke as she led Sasuke. She stopped in her path and turned to face them. "She can't come."

"Wherever I go, she follows so get used to it."

Karin clicked her tongue before leading the way. Sasuke had ordered Suigetsu to free the remaining experiments while they viewed Kyoko's files.

"It says here, that she is simply another experiment. She's the experiment of a linking."

"A what?"

"Orochimaru wanted to test wether or not two people could share a curse mark."

"Who is she sharing it with?"

"At first, to be kept closer for safety, she was linked with Orochimaru. Since the day he set his mind on placing a mark on you he decided to link you and Kyoko. I don't know what he planned, but seeing you two become close his plan must have worked."

Kyoko looked up at Sasuke.

"What if his goal was to get us to have a kid?"

Karin pondered on the question.

"That could have been. He probably wanted to see what would happen when two people who hold the same curse mark have a kid."

"How do we remove the link?" Sasuke questioned.

"If you attempt it, one of the people have to die."

"How was Orochimaru able to do it then?"

"He had vessels, his vessel died when he linked Kyoko to someone else."

"Are we always going to have these marks?"

"You know the answer to that better than any of us, Kyoko."

"He said that when he died they would disappear, but why are they still here?"

"I say we get going!" Announced Suigetsu. "Sasuke still owes me something!"
