IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA ...
4 years before-
As the night cool air blew Dru'ona sat alone on an abandoned porch with tears trickling down her dark brown cheeks, she was fed up with life. Living with the fact that she felt like she had nobody or nothing to turn to. All she had was herself and two Hundred dollars in her pocket. She hid her face while people walked pass not wanting nobody to ask her anything and afraid for them to see the hurt she was feeling. That feeling didn't last long because instantly a thought hit her causing her to stop the waterworks. She got up and walked away from the house and down the street, putting her plan in motion.
Walking down the block she was getting stares from all the corner boys, but that was the last thing on her mind. At the end of the day she could care less about the hustlers and the no good niggas barking at her to get her attention. She was on a mission to Get on track with her life even if it cost her, her own life."Hey where's Jerry"? She asked one of the corner boys. He looked Dru up and down before he pointed to the corner over and turned his back towards her.
She rolled her eyes at him before bending the corner to where she seen a Tall dark-skinned, built long hair dreadhead pacing back and forth like he was in deep thought.
"Wassup Jerry" she said slowly walking up close to him.
He stopped...and faced her with a smile "Oh shit sup little mama how you been"? he said hugging her tightly. They released the hug and locked eyes as her expression became serious. It had been a while since the last time he had seen her, but seeing her face now touched his heart. She cleared her throat and took a step back " Jerry I need Ya help" she said as she stepped back with the same serious game face. He looked confused for a moment as he stared at her "What's up, what type of help"? He asked as he bit down at his bottom lip.
She took a deep breath and looked back up with pleading eyes " I need a gun".
He looked at her crazy " What you mean Dru... you not even that type of girl. Is somebody bothering you or something cause I can handle em right now just tell -" She cut him off, "No Jerry I'm good on that note... I just need it". She placed her hands in her back pocket while looked back down at her beat up tennis shoes. Jerry was real close with Dru'ona and her family before tragedy strike them, leaving poor little Dru to fen for herself. Although he was happy to see her after analyzing her close he realized this wasn't the same little Dru'ona that had grown up right in his eyes. If only he knew that Dru was robbed from way more than just her family.
He still looked at her crazy, "What are you into Dru girl"? He asked concerned. "Nothing... I Just need a quick come up that's all" she said calmly.
They stared at each other, he stared harder at her for a moment reading her body language tryna read more, but he came up with nothing at all. Jerry knew these streets like the back of his hand and he knew the streets weren't for an innocent soul like Dru'ona. He was a hustler, he actually use to work for Leon, Dru's father until he's fateful day then everything turned cold even these streets. Leon owned these streets and everyone loved him because not only was he the biggest drug Lord in South Central he also looked out for the hood. He threw big block parties, helped the poor and gave back to the community. No matter what good he did or how big he was in the hood, there was always a hater somewhere ready to take over.
"I have Two Hundred to my name but if you help me I got you plus more... at the end of the day, all I got is that and my word" she said breaking her stare from his nervously. At the end of the day, she couldn't believe she was even asking Jerry for this type of help.
He nodded his head at her with a small smile "Dru I got you, you know that... I promised you I would always have ya back and you got my word so imma help you out and you just look out for me when you get up shawdy. " He said as he looked down at the two hundred dollars in her hand. " Keep ya money babygirl you gonna need it right now more than me" he chuckled while passing her a nine mm. Handgun.
Her eyes lit up like a Christmas tree as he put the gun in her hand. "Be safe Dru I don't wanna have to hunt a nigga down for something happening to you ... you know how to shoot a gun baby girl"? he asked with a small chuckle.
"Now if my dad ain't teach me nothing else he taught me about trust and how to shoot a gun" she laughed but was so serious.
