TOY SOLDIERS

Family

Danielle was all smiles to see her daughter until she noticed the metal steel in her hand and the tears that were forming in her eyes.
Carla faced Dru with a worried expression on her face, she couldn't understand why her only child was standing a few feet away from her with a gun in her hand.
"Dru'ona baby what's wrong"? 
Dru scratched her face with the same hand the gun was in,but her eyes never leaving Danielle's view as she took a seat in the chair in front of her. "Mom Imma ask you this one time and I hope you don't lie to me. What were you involvement in my father's death"? Dru'ona asked, ready for the truth. 
Danielle shook her head and folded her arms over her chest, giving Dru a shocked look as to say I can't believe you just asked me that. The thing was Dru been knew it was something her mother wasn't telling her and she demanded the truth.  "I can't believe you just asked me that... I don't know what -"... Danielle started but Dru cut her completely off. "Don't... Mom please don't lie to me I already know". 
The minute Danielle opened her mouth to lie again Dru was on it, she clicked the safety off the gun and with low,tearful eyes she stared her mother dead in her face. The gig was up now, she knew her daughter wasn't playing she knew she had to admit what happened.  Taking a deep breath, Danielle stated with her hands up in surrender mode "Listen baby it's more than you know". 
"Then tell me than" Dru yelled, losing patience.
Danielle took another deep breath,  "When me and ya father split up Wise came in the picture. I didn't know he had parts in with ya father, I knew nothing about their beef at first. When I found out ya father left me for another woman I was furious and I slipped up and did a little too much talking about him. I feed Wise with information about ya father, but I didn't know he was using that to kill him and baby I'm so sorry" Danielle said as she started sobbing hard. For the moment they both cried while trying to collect their thoughts on what to say next. "I'm so hurt because I would have never imagine my own mother selling family out to a stranger. He played you and you let him. You let him in ya life too close and when he got you under his spell he killed my father".
"I'm sorry Dru" Danielle cried out.
Dru shot up out her seat and started screaming to the top of her lungs "Sorry don't do shit. You let him kill my father, you husband all because you were in ya feeling at the time" her voice lowered a little as she continued "You knew he was my everything and you took him away from me. Not only did Wise kill dad, but he also killed Cam. So I'm sorry mama but sorry just won't do". 
Danielle dropped down to her knees crying and begged "Please you have to forgive me. I didn't know I swear I didn't know".  Dru stepped closer to her mother with the gun in her hand, trembling down at her side "You knew ... That's why you kept telling me to let this go. You knew everything".  Danielle held her head down low and gave a head nod "Yes now I did but at first I didn't, baby at the end of the day I was only  trying to protect you". 
"From what, the truth"? 
"Yes" Danielle cried out. The room grew silent again, Danielle didn't say another word she knew no matter how or what she said she was guilty by association. Dru took a step closer to her before she kneel down to her level "This is all ya fault and even if you didn't have nothing to do with Cam's death you still opened that door for Wise. He wanted my father dead and you granted that wish, he wanted me dead, but instead he took Cam from me and your grandaughter".
"I'm sorry... Just kill me already" Danielle begged. She felt guilty for all these years and Now her secret was finally out.Carla continued to sob while her only daughter stood behind her with her gun pointed at her head. Dru shook her head and stood back up, she stared down at how pitiful her mother look. And even though she loved her she knew she had to let her go. 
Putting the gun close to her head, her hand began to tremble and the tears began to roll down her face again. This was her mother, the only woman she knew and had in her life for years and she betrayed her on so many levels. Dru stepped back and removed the gun away from her mother and broke down crying harder.
Once she was able to pull herself together again she faced Danielle again who hadn't moved out the position she was in.  "The fact that you are my mother is the reason why I can't kill you. It would be to easy for what you have done, but just know that you lost your daughter and your granddaughter" was Dru's last words before she left out the door before her mother could even make a move.  Danielle tried everything in her power to stop her daughter from leaving like this, but she couldn't. Dru wasn't never gonna get over what she did to her and even though it was never her intentions to get Leon killed she knew Dru would never see it that way. Danielle loved Leon with all her heart even though they were separated, Wise was just a fling, but that fling caused   her to lose her Husband, only daughter and granddaughter in the long run. All Carla could do was sit on the floor and scream her child's name, but there was no use, Dru was gone forever.
