A/N: I haven't even gotten to the part in the show where Cas becomes human but I like to spoil things for myself, plus this would only work if he was human. I actually really, really like this one. I think it's cute. The picture up above explains the dramatic paper cut Cas insisted on showing Dean.

P.S. I finished reading Twist and Shout and my life is ruined. Who felt the need to write that and punish people with it? It's so beautifully sad and if you haven't read it I recommend you do if you want you heart broken.

Yeah! So, comment some requests if you have any, vote if you liked and even if you didn't Till next time, my dudes.

-------------------------------------

Cas had only been human for about a  month or two, he spent much of his time moping and missing his wings. Dean and Sam had been more than willing to let Cas hang around with them because Cas didn't know the first thing about being human. It took Cas a while to figure out when eating was necessary and when needing to use the restroom was urgent.

Cas was lucky Dean somehow had the patience to help him with little things like cooking breakfast or making his bed. Cas had known Dean for years now and had never seen him try harder to make someone feel at home. He considered himself lucky because he got a side of Dean not many people got to see. The Dean who explained digestion to Cas like a teacher, the Dean who showed Cas how to properly dress a wound after a fight, and the Dean who taught Cas what human emotions were capable of. When Cas found himself crying for no reason, Dean explained it as depression and when Dean had cuddled Cas later that night, Dean explained it as comfort. Dean had been more than helpful to Cas, he had been a life-saver.

Cas stared at a page describing the shape-shifting lore, clearly distracted, but hoping that if he learned more that Dean would let him at least help on hunts. For now, Cas sat at home, wondering when the Winchesters would return home, if they would return home. Dean had explained this feeling as anxiety or worry.

Cas shook his head and sighed, turning the page carelessly. He was beyond shocked when his index finger exploded with pain and he threw the book off his lap. How could such a small cut cause him such excruciating pain? Cas winced when he tried bending his finger and felt a tear roll down his cheek as he pressed softly on the wound.

He sniffled, rising from his chair in search of the older Winchester to help him with his injury. He found Dean staring at the TV with a beer in his hand, causally, as if Cas wasn't suffering.

"Dean," Cas whimpered, catching the green-eyed man's attention quickly.

"What? What's wrong?" Dean said alarmed, looking Cas up and down, checking for serious injuries.

Cas held his finger up helplessly, showing Dean the slightly reddened tip. Dean chuckled, but quickly composed himself when he saw Cas on the verge of tears. "What happened?"

"I was just reading," Cas whispered, resting his head on Dean's chest like a child.

Dean instinctively carded his fingers through Cas's dark hair. "Ah, a paper cut."

"Yes, that," Cas sniffled, nuzzling himself into Dean, keeping his hand away to prevent it from jolting into anything.

Dean pressed a tender kiss against Cas's temple and sighed. Dean knew this wasn't just about the paper cut. Cas was having a hard time adjusting to being a regular person. Dean saw the sorrow in the ex-angel's eyes when Dean was injured and he couldn't do anything to relieve him of the pain. The depression Cas was going through was understandable, but so heartbreaking for Dean to watch. He just wished he could make Cas whole again and he knew Cas was trying, God knows Cas wanted to accept his new fate.

Dean pulled away, wiping away a stray tear from Cas's eyes. "C'mon, I'll fix you up."

Dean pulled Cas into the bathroom, rummaging through the cabinets until he found the band-aids. Dean held them up for Cas to look at with curious blue eyes. "These are like magic, they make paper cuts heal faster."

Cas stared at the band-aids with childlike wonder and Dean almost cooed at how adorable the man looked. "First, though, I have to put disinfectant on it because we don't want you to get an infection."

Cas nodded, seating himself on the closed toilet and let Dean grab his hand carefully. Dean grabbed the Neosporin, pouring some on his finger and turning to Cas, "This might sting, be brave."

Cas glared at Dean for a quick moment, before wincing as Dean made contact with his injury. It felt like the tip of his finger was on fire and it was beyond uncomfortable. Dean peeled open the band-aid and gently placed it around Cas's finger. He smiled. "All done."

Cas gave Dean a questioning look, carefully bending his finger only to find that it still stung. He pouted. "It still hurts."

Dean's eyes softened slightly. "Here, this is what my mom did to make my paper cuts feel better."

Dean grabbed Cas's injured arm gingerly, holding up the finger with the plain band-aid. Cas watched as Dean pressed his lips to his aching finger and smiled. This was Cas's favorite Dean. Dean who put band-aids on Cas's paper cuts and kissed them better. "Thank you, Dean."

Cas stepped forward, wrapping his arms around Dean's waist and resting his forehead on his sternum. Dean smiled, pushing his face into Cas's hair and inhaled the soapy smell.

"What's this feeling?" Cas asked in a whisper.

"I don't know. Contentment. Maybe love," Dean said, repeatedly kissing the crown of Cas's head, where his halo should rest.

"The last one," Cas sighed, pressing a kiss to Dean's chest.

Dean held Cas for what seemed like hours, enjoying the body heat Cas now radiated. No, Cas wasn't an angel of the lord anymore and he wasn't the angel of Thursday, but Dean would always see Cas as his angel.
