Dean sighed as he stared into the fridge to find it nearly empty. He couldn't feed himself, let alone his 10 month old daughter.

Mary had come as a pleasant surprise to Dean, probably the best surprise of his life. Her mother had carried her for the whole nine months only to leave her on Dean's doorstep when the baby was only 2 months old. It had been hard the first few months. What little sleep he got was interrupted by his offspring and he couldn't work for a whole month because she needed his constant care. If it hadn't been for his brother, Bobby, and his best friend, he never would've made it.

He stared at Mary now, babbling to herself as she sat in her high chair, expecting some form of lunch. Dean would have to buy her something while they were out.

"How does the store sound, kiddo?" Dean asked her in his baby voice even though he knew she wouldn't answer. He pulled out his phone to see if Cas wanted to join them. Cas had been the biggest help when Mary first landed into Dean's life. Cas had moved in with Dean for a few weeks to help manage the crazy baby. She loved him and Dean knew Cas loved her, it was all he could ask for.

Mary only giggled and reached for her father's face, clearly happy with the attention he gave her

Cas answered on the second ring, "Hello, Dean."

"Hey, Mary and I are gonna head for the grocery store. Wanna join?" Dean asked, picking up Mary from her highchair and carrying her to the living room.

"I suppose. I have nothing else to do."

"Great! Mare and I will pick you up in 10 minutes," Dean hung up the phone and put together her bag. He had gotten pretty good at the whole dad thing over the months and he was proud of himself. Considering he didn't have a father figure in his life until he was about 17, Dean thought he was doing alright.

Before they knew it, they had picked up Cas and arrived at the store in record time. Cas laid a blanket in the seat of the cart before Dean placed Mary in it and headed into the market.

"So what is it that you need?" Cas asked, curiously picking up different flavors of baby food that Mary would grow out of soon in the next month or two.

"Just about everything," Dean sighed, picking up the applesauce from Cas's left hand. "This is her favorite, you amateur."

Cas scoffed before grabbing another jar of applesauce and handing it to Mary to play with. For the next 5 minutes she fiddled and licked the jar much to her delight. The trio were interrupted when someone gasped out Cas's full name.

Dean saw Cas cringe before plastering a fake smile onto his lips. "Anna!"

Dean watched in confusion as a redheaded woman approached them with a clearly disapproving look on her face. "How have you been?"

"I'm doing good. Working on my books and all," Cas awkwardly said, looking at Dean for help.

"Hi, I'm Dean," Dean stepped in, shaking Anna's very small hand. He immediately knew why she looked uncomfortable when she slyly wiped her hand on her jeans after Dean had let it go.

"How do you two know each other?" Anna questioned, the fake smile on her lips slipping.

"We're friends. I know Cas's brother and we met through him," Dean explained, patting Cas on the back and turned to Mary. He took the applesauce away from her only to replace it with a stuffed bee, a present from Cas.
