A/N: omg I am back. Happy late thanksgiving if you celebrate that stuff.
Also this one is different from the rest? Angsty? Let me know if it's angst. It is also a song fic called when you love someone by James TW. It's a really good song and j included it up top.
Also if you have never seen @/elicedraws on Tumblr her drawings are so cute. Sun and mood!AU is by far my favorite of her drawings so you should check it out. That's what the top picture is.
Anyways! As always always comment, vote, make requests if you have any, and I will hopefully update soon.

Dean remembered this conversation so well. He wasn't sure if it was because of the disappointment written all over his mother's face or the fact that his whole face felt like it was pulsing as she cleaned his wounds.
He had gotten into a fight at school about something unimportant that Dean didn't remember now. He did remember how bad he looked for a 12 year old, he still had the scars on his knuckles from the fight.
"You can't be doing this anymore, Dean." His mother had scolded, going on and on about how he was grounded for a month.
Dean wasn't listening. He kept his silence until his mother had stopped talking about his punishment. "Dad would have beat me up again, but he isn't here again, right?"
He remembered the look on her face, she was so shocked that Dean had pieced it together. She stopped fussing over the cut on his face and sighed.
"How long have you known?"
Dean rolled his eyes. "I'm not stupid, Mom. Dad has been gone on a 'hunting trip' for 2 weeks now."
"Dean-"
"Just tell me what's happening!" He stood up from his seat at the kitchen table. The tears in his eyes weren't from his wounds anymore, but the pure anger from being treated as if he didn't know anything. He wasn't just some child who could be shielded from the harsh realities of life.
"Dean," his mother started again, bringing her son into her arms. "things are complicated when you love someone. Sometimes people just fall out of it, but that doesn't mean we don't care about each other. For you, nothing will change. You'll go fishing with your dad and Uncle Bobby every weekend. You'll still have your room. You and Sammy will still see us every holiday. Your dad and I still love you so so much."
At this point, Dean was aggressively sobbing. He frustratedly rubbed the tears from his eyes and tried to swallow the hiccups. His mother was crying too, ashamed that her son had to go through this, ashamed that she didn't know what he was going through sooner, and ashamed that she didn't know this was why he was fighting.
"You can't tell Sam yet, okay? He still too little to understand and I know this is a lot to ask of you, Dean. I'm so sorry I even have to ask this, but please pretend like it's okay. If Sam sees that you're okay, he will be too. We have to protect Sammy."
Dean nodded, desperately trying to regulate his breathing again. He was a big brother and for as long as Dean could remember, it was his job to make sure that Sammy was safe and happy.
His mother stroked his hair softly and wished she didn't have to have this conversation with him. "I know it doesn't make a lot of sense right now, but you'll figure it out one day when you love someone."
That was the day Dean vowed to never be like his parents. He never wanted his kids to go through what he went through as a kid. The guilt you felt thinking it was your fault, the sympathetic stares from friends. He would never do that to them.
