Let's just get on with the story! *queues the jets to flyover*
~Aeryn P.O.V~
My family and I decided to walk around the territory that night, discussing the most recent tragedy that shocked the entire werewolf race. We only hoped that the transition of power to the next ruler would be without any issues or resistance. There were many other threats we needed to worry about. We were also spending our last few moments together as a family since none of us knew when we'd be able to congregate all together in the future.
"Laugh all you want Lyra, but if I'm Queen then you'll be the Alpha of Star Crest."
"So?"
"Then you'll be stuck with all dad's training!"
"You better believe it!" said my father while flashing a wicked grin at my sister.
Her face paled at the realization and we laughed at her expression.
"SHHH!" said my mother.
We instantly became quiet and looked at her both confused and worried. She mind-linked us that she heard rustling in the forest, but it couldn't have been the border patrol since they had already moved on from this section of the territory. My father started calling the rest of the warriors toward our location in case there was an intruder.
'Aeryn! DUCK!' yelled my wolf, Lexi.
'What?'
Before I could even react, Lexi took over and forced me to the ground at the exact moment a wolf lunged at me from the side. He missed and landed a few yards away. I couldn't even register what happened before my father shifted and crushed the spine of the rogue in his teeth, killing it instantly.
The rest of us shifted as well and looked up to see the intruders charging at us from the direction my attacker had come.
'Get behind me!' said my father.
We followed his orders and faced the approaching threat. My father dug his claws into the ground before releasing one of the most horrifying growls I had ever heard. The alpha tone affects others outside the pack as well and is a way to reveal an alpha's power and to intimidate those of lesser ranks. The attacking rogues stopped for a moment before continuing their advancement. I soon realized we were severely outnumbered, and the rest of the warriors nearby wouldn't make it to us in time.
I bent my legs and crouched, baring my teeth and growling at the intruders. I was prepared for the fight. I launched myself at the nearest rogue and effortlessly flung its body into three others, knocking them over. One jumped on my back and attempted to bite my neck, but I quickly flung it off and sank my teeth into its throat. Three more attacked me at the same time and managed to knock me to the ground. I was about to kick them off when they were suddenly hurled into some tree trunks that were at least thirty yards away. That's when I saw the massive lioness standing over me, her purple eyes glowed with rage.

My cat, Rayne, sensed Aeryn was in danger so I teleported to the north side of the territory. I heard wolves fighting and sprinted in that direction. I arrived in time to see three rogues jump on Aeryn, knocking her to the ground, so I used my enhanced speed to run over to her and swat the wolves away with my paw. I noticed that we were vastly outnumbered, but I had no doubt that the alphas and I could handle the enemy for the time being.
I concentrated on the swirling magic within me and forced it toward my front paws. They sparked momentarily before being engulfed in white flames. The rogues who were about to attack took a few steps back in shock, so I lunged at them with full force. Each hit from my paws sent a searing heat throughout their bodies as the flames began to engulf their forms, leaving little more than ashes in a matter of seconds.
I heard a wolf running up behind me and knew he was about to jump on my back. I instantly shifted into human form and crouched down, causing it to miss. As the wolf turned around to look at me, I pulled a knife out of my sleeve and threw it into its side. The wolf collapsed and I knew the poison on the blade would only take a few moments to kill it.
Before I could shift back into my lioness, nearly eight wolves piled on me from all angles, biting and clawing at my skin. I used my magic to launch a pure energy attack. The purple shock wave sent the wolves flying in all directions. I stood, covered in blood, cuts, and bite marks. I growled menacingly before using my powers to lift four of the wolves off the ground and hurl them into rocks and trees. I turned to the other four, lifted them, and slowly closed my hand into a fist. My magic crushed their bones before I dropped their lifeless bodies to the ground.
I heard a yelp and turned to see a rogue clamping its jaws around Lyra's leg. I heard the snap and knew it had been broken. I was about to help her when Aeryn came out of nowhere and hurled herself at the attacker. He let go of Lyra's leg and both tumbled on the ground. Aeryn managed to land on top of it and she used her paws to crush the chest of the other wolf into the ground repeatedly. When it could no longer move, she bit down on its throat and snapped its neck. She then ran over to her sister and stood over her protectively, ready to defend.
I turned my attention back to the direction the rogues were coming and noticed a huge, chocolate brown wolf hiding in the shadows, watching the assault. I gazed at him for a moment, but he never noticed me staring and was fixated on something else. That's when I noticed his eyes. They were reddish orange and swirled like flames.
'It can't be!' said my cat.
But we both knew that it could only mean one thing. I made sure other wolves were not about to charge me, but after the last display of my power, they seemed hesitant. I took the opportunity to focus on that wolf and he disappeared in a flash.
The pack warriors arrived soon after and they were able to neutralize the threat. The alpha took some captive for questioning. He was livid and I had no doubt that he would quadruple everyone's patrol shifts until they discovered why this was happening. I might have stayed to try to help, but I had other things on my mind. I walked discretely into the forest before shifting and running back to my cabin.
Well it's midnight so I can't say I updated twice in one day....dang it! XD My sister pushed me to get this next chapter out! I don't have much else to say.....bye!
