That summer

Chapter 13:Coming back from space

Frantically Nina got a glass of water and ran to Fabian and splashed it in his face. It didn't work.

"Fabian please wake up!" She exclaimed shaking him further. "Please please please!" Her eyes were flooded with tears. Her vision had begun to get blotchy because of the overwhelment of tears. "You need to wake up!" She exclaimed. She knelt down to his head and kissed him. Afterwords she cradled his head in her weakened arms. Tears ran down her cheeks and dropped onto his pale face like raindrops on roses (and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens. Brown paper packages tied up with string, these are a few of my favorite things!)

Suddenly he moved his head slightly. Nina looked down at him and watched intensely at the awakening Fabian. His eyes opened slowly and gingerly.

"Nina?" He asked.

Full of joy and ambition Nina nearly pounced onto his face.

"Fabian!" She exclaimed.

"What happened?" He asked rubbing his head and attempting to sit up. He instantly laid back on the couch. Surges of unbearable pain went through his body and especially around the top right part of his head. He clutched it.

"What's wrong?" Nina asked tenderly taking his hand off his head. She set his hand down in his lap and held her hand there instead.

"Oi! Not so hard!" Fabian exclaimed.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" She exclaimed lighting her hold on his head.

A few seconds later she took her hand off his head to discover her hand had splotches of blood messily splattered almost artistically across her hand.

"Fabian your bleeding!" She said looking at her hand with a ghastly expression.

"I am?" He asked.

Nina showed him, her hand.

"I am!" He finalized.

Nina went to the kitchen and washed her hand off then got a paper towel.

"Fabian can you sit up please?" She asked trying to cover the hesitation in her voice.

"I'll try love.." He said.

He put his hands on the couch and pushed upwards squinting his eyes and holding his breath , the pain was so bad. He gently rested his back on the back of the couch where Nina was standing. Quickly and with added 'help' from her shaking hand she dabbed at the wound.

"So what did happen to me?" He asked again.

"It was my neighbor josh. The jealous one. He must've seen us together and beaten you up so you could be left for dead. I'm so glad I found you. " Nina said holding the towel at his head as calmly as she could.

"I am too" he said.

Nina took the towel off his head and threw it away.

"Now Fabian I'd suggest going to bed early and having your girlfriend go with you" she said in a jersey accent clutching a clipboard and twirling a pin around in her nimble fingers.

"Alright miss, off we go!" He said in a New York accent and holding his arm out.

Nina took it happily and laughing about it they skipped upstairs to Nina's room.
