Leah's POV
I couldn't believe this. It had been about five and a half months since Devan had proposed, and today....today I would be marrying my best friend. Anne stood beside me, wearing a really pretty baby blue dress. I looked in the mirror, and couldn't quite believe how I looked. Instead of a fake tiara, I'd decided to go with a simple crown of pink roses. And my dress was simple as well. It had lace cap sleeves, and was a style called a-line, whatever that meant. I had twelve white roses, and wore a necklace with an ice blue gem. Then, there was a knock at the door."Who is it?" Anne asked, eyeing the door suspiciously. Devan had already tried to sneak in once.
"It's me, mom." She opened the door quickly, letting Collins in, and his jaw dropped when I turned around.
"Whoa. Just....Whoa. He's gonna start crying, mom. I guarantee it." She laughed, moving over and fixing his lopsided bow tie.
"Well, he can if he wants to. Now, where are the other girls?" She was referring to Riley, my maid of honor, and my bridesmaids, Madison and Elisabeth. Riley and I had known each other for about two years, and she'd helped with planning, and she insisted we get a picture for the invitations."Maddy and Riley are still next door, and Elisabeth is outside, sketching again." I chuckled.
"Elisabeth is almost always drawing. Are you at all surprised?" He chuckled.
"Not a bit. You ready for this? We're five minutes til." I nodded, and the three of us left the room. I found my girls all gathered around, looking like princesses in their ice blue dresses. Elisabeth's brother Michael, or Mikey as he preferred, was also there. There were only about 80-90 people there, and as previously planned, Madison's older brother, Jeremiah, would be the one to walk me down the aisle. Collins, Anne, and I got to the back of the church, and Jeremiah smiled."Leah, you ready? And Collins, you've gotta get moving." Collins nodded, and went around, heading in. Steven and Anne went in and took their seats, and then Elisabeth, Madison, and Riley went down the aisle. Jeremiah held his arm out, smiling.
"You ready?" I nodded, taking it. We'd known each other for years, and he'd always been like a big brother to me. We started down, and I saw Devan pinch himself when we walked in. Jeremiah handed me off, and I took Devan's hand.
"You ready?" He whispered, and I smiled.
"Always." I don't remember much of the rest of the service, but I do remember the pure joy that welled up in me when I heard those wonderful words."I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." When that happened, all the butterflies in my stomach disappeared. We pulled back, grinning, and headed back up the aisle. He gently pulled me into one of the back rooms, and kissed me again. After a minute, we pulled back, our foreheads touching.
"I love you, Leah Isabelle Key. Nothing can ever change that, I promise." I smiled, and took his hands.
"I love you too, Devan. And I think we need to head back out. Your brother won't ever let us hear the end of this otherwise." He groaned slightly.
"We can't just skip the reception?" I chuckled.
"Nope. Come on." He sighed, and we headed back out. Pictures were taken, and we headed outside to the tents set up for the reception. Riley grabbed her camera, and she was hopping around, taking pictures of everyone and everything. My favorite song that was playing and we danced to was There's A Place For Us, written for the Narnia movies by Carrie Underwood. We stayed for a couple hours, cutting the cake and dancing some, and then left, with only Collins, Anne, and Steven knowing. I changed out of my dress, and Devan happily changed out of his suit, and we headed off. We went to the airport, and headed for Florida, which was where we would be staying for about ten days. We arrived at about 7:30 that night, and headed to the beach house we were staying in."Here we are." Devan opened the door, and we dropped our suitcases near the bed. I looked out at the sunset, smiling.
"Wow. I think this is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen." I whispered, and he smiled, coming up behind me and wrapping his arms around my waist.
"I've got something more beautiful right here in front of me." He said, gently pressing his lips to my neck. He scooped me up, and I wrapped my arms around his neck, kissing him. We went over to the bed, and we both basically sprawled on it. And what happened after that? Mm.........that's just for the two of us to know.Author's note- Hello!!
