You soon found yourself in your DADA seat with no one sitting next to you. Usually Draco sat next to you but you must've hit a soft spot. A minute before class started someone moved into the seat next to you. "Guess you're not mad anymore." You said sternly, not looking at who sat next to you. You heard a grunt and accepted it as a response. A few minutes after class started a note was passed to you.
I talked to Snape to see if my job is to still watch over you. He told me continue and would let me know when I can stop. -D.M It read, you glanced over at Draco noticing that he was actually paying attention to the lesson.
You are no longer following me like a puppy. I stand beside what I said earlier. You passed the note over to Draco and waited for his response. He grunted again and you figured the conversation was over. A few moments pass and then note was passed again.
Can you please just do what I ask? It would make it easier for the both of us. I don't like doing it as much as you think I might. The note said, you sighed and looked back over at Draco. He was staring at you this time with a raised eyebrow. You looked him straight into the eyes and crumbled up the note, turning back to the teacher trying to listen to the lesson.
It felt like the lesson was dragging on, you sat uncomfortable next to Draco for what seemed like years. As soon as class was over you grabbed your things as quickly and as discreetly as you could and made your way to your next class, trying not to talk to Draco. When you thought you made it in the clear you felt someone tap your shoulder, you turned around to meet face to face with a dark haired boy. "You seem like you're trying to avoid us today, (Y/N)." You sighed in relief to come face to face with Harry. "No, not you. Someone else." You looked behind him and around the area you guys were standing. Draco would kill you at the moment if he found you talking to the famous Potter. Harry nodded in agreement, almost like he read your mind.
You and Harry had talked for abit about the past night's events. "Maybe Hagrid doesn't really know anything about Sirius." Harry said, sitting down next to you. You turned to Harry and gave him a look of pure stupidity. "Harry, if you had a brain, you'd be dangerous." You scoffed. "Hagrid obviously knows something, I just can't figure out what it could possibly be at the moment. Hagrid always knows what's going on, everyone just thinks he's a big dumb guy when in actuality he's very smart and knows when to listen. He'll sleep up eventually." You said turning back to the front of the room. "That was actually really sweet for a Slytherin," Harry joked, earning a punch to the arm. "Don't tell Hagrid I said that," You said, smiling for the first time that day. After class was over you and Harry met up with the rest of the group and walked to the next class. "I can't believe they are letting Hagrid teach this year! Isn't this exciting." You said, like you said earlier Hagrid was smart and he really deserved this job. "I just don't understand why they let a twit like that teach, my father will hear about this." A familiar voice scoffed behind the group. You turned to meet face to face with Draco, his stance shrunk a bit when he realized who he said it too. "Actually Draco, if they wanted a twit to teach, they would've hired your father and maybe even you as his assistant." You said, expecting another snide remark. He grunted in disgust and walked away with his possy before saying anything else he might regret. "That was good," Ron said patting your back. "A shame actually," You remarked, turning back around to walk to the class.
For the rest of the walk down to the forest you were in silence listening to the three bickering. You were listening for Draco and his crew, you new they were behind you from the laughter and mumbling. Even though it might be harmless, you wanted to know what they might have been talking about so you can get him later for it. Once all the students got together around Hagrid, he presented the Hippogriff that you four saw the night before. "Students, meet Buckbeak!" He threw something towards the animal and it caught the item in it's mouth. You stood wide eyed at the animal, feeling someone stand closer to you. "These animals are amazing," You said, expecting a wide eyed Harry when you turned around only to make eye contact with Draco. You frowned in disappointment and looked back towards the animal. Hagrid was going on about the animal and you felt someone play with your hand. You looked down and seen Draco's hand, "What are you doing?" You whispered to him. You seen him smile out of the corner of your eye. "Now who wants to pet him?" Hagrid said, everyone stepped back, leaving Harry to volunteer. While Hagrid was talking to Harry about what to do, Draco's hand never left yours. "Draco," you whispered softly, he looked at you with a raised eyebrow. "Yes, (Y/N)?" He asked, a smile playing at him lips. You smirked, pulling your hand away. Just as you did, Harry was thrown onto Buckbeak and off he went. "Wow," You let out a breathless whisper, Draco scoffed. Obviously over his sweet moment.
When Draco left your side you used that moment to go and talk to Hagrid. "Hagrid, I have a question." You said quietly as you got next to him. "What is it, (Y/L/N)?" "The other night, you were avoiding are questions like always. I know you know something." You said, staring up at him. He sighed, "I know you listen Hagrid, I know everyone trusts you because of your appearance. I just need to know." Hagrid looked at you and went to say something, "Harry! How was your flight?" Hagrid said, leaving you to stand in your spot. Hagrid got Harry off of Buckbeak and threw what looked like a dead animal to Buckbeak. He caught it and ate it, walking his way over to you. You quietly reached your hand ot asking for permission, Buckbeak granted it and you stood there watching everyone talk to Harry and Hagrid. That was until Draco approached Buckbeak, causing him to raise up and scratch Draco's arm. Draco let out a horrible scream as you went to Buckbeak trying to calm him down so he wouldn't harm Draco anymore than he already had. "Stand back everyone!" Hagrid yelled. He grabbed Draco up into his arms princess style and took him to the infirmary. You looked at Harry, "That's what he gets." Hermione said, standing next to Harry. You shook your head and looked at Buckbeak, "He did deserve it."
After class was over you went to the infirmary to check on Draco. Once you got to the doors you heard Draco yelling, "My father will hear about this!" You walked in, "Well it was your fault Malfoy, why would your father want to hear about another one of your failures?" he cocked his head at you in surprise. Hagrid looked at you with sincerness and left quickly. "Honestly Draco, you are supposed to be watching over me, not the other way around. You suck at your job." You brought a chair over to his bedside and sat down. Draco wasn't saying anything and just stared down at his hands. "You're ridiculous," he looked up at you with an emotionless face. "I'm sorry (Y/N)." You rolled your eyes at Draco, "I'm not the one you should be saying sorry to, Malfoy. That was a ridiculous stunt you pulled, and for what? To try and impress everyone and dent Harry's ego? Poor Buckbeak, now because of you Hagrid might lose his shot at teaching all because you wanted to be all big and bad." You looked at Draco, fuming with anger. "I won't say anything to my father." That was all Draco said, you looked up at him. "You weren't going to anyways," he smirked at you. How could you be mad at your dearest Draco? You could but it wouldn't last for long, "Well how is your arm? Are you dying?" You winked at him, he chuckled and shook his head. "Unlucky for you I'm not dying. Just wounded physically and emotionally." "Buckbeak isn't that scary Malfoy." You joked. You both laughed and he shook his head again. "No, Buckbeak physically hurt me, you have all the points for the emotional hurt." You both laughed again and the nurse walked in. "Draco Malfoy?" She questioned, He nodded his head at her, "You have to wear that for a week or two, but you are free to go." She pointed to his sling. You got up and helped Draco out of bed and walked with him to the dining hall.
As you both were walking down the hallways, it was awkward. "Why is this so weird?" you thought to yourself. "So, you know how the prophecy is?" Draco asked, breaking the silence. "Yes, I know where not only my duties are but yours as well, Malfoy." You said, "I know how this all should or should not end. It's been hammered into our brains since we could understand speech. I'm not stupid Draco." You gave a dry laugh. "I was just making sure. Especially with our ending." You shuddered at what he said.
"Dear, you and Draco have to get along. It's apart of the Prophecy. Remember?" Your mom said as you were walking up to the Malfoy Manor. You nodded your head and looked up to the small silhouette in the window. Staring down at you two.
"(Y/N)?" Draco broke you out of your memories. You looked up at him, "Draco, remember when we first met?" You asked him, trying to get him off topic. "Yes, that's when my dad gave me my first ever lesson on how to be a gentleman." You both laughed at the thought. "Well, he did a piss poor job." You retorted, he chuckled. "Why, do you not remember?" He poked your head with his free hand. You giggled and swatted at his hand, "Of course I remember you twit, that's when my mom decided to make me dressed fancy for the first time ever in my life." "Well maybe you should go back to dressing fancy then," Draco laughed as you went to hit him on his shoulder. "You really don't like my style?" You asked him acting hurt. "I love your style," He said in a serious tone, moving to where you both stopped in the middle of the hallway. "So, (Y/N). What I said earlier about the prophecy." "Yes?" You said trying to get him to the point of the topic. "Well, maybe we should stick together you know? I know what you and Harry have talked about. About you getting information and giving it to the resistance. I want help, but don't tell Potter." You were surprised, not everyday a pureblood of his power wants to fight for the other team. You smiled and kissed his cheek in excitement. "That sounds great Draco!" He smiled and blushed, turning away. "I can't believe you want to help turn our ending around.I thought I lost hope in you," You winked at him. He gasped and acted like he was physically wounded. You both laughed, "That really hurts, (Y/N). Really does." You giggled.
After you both bickered back and forth you finally made it to the dining hall. You both were laughing from earlier jokes making everyone, including the trio, to look your way. You took no notice and sat down with Draco. "Did you finally ask her out?" Blaise asked. You looked up in shock, "When did you ask me out, Malfoy? I do recall that's not what we talked about, more or less of what a great shag some people in the house would be." You said, peering at Blaise. You leaned over the table and whispered, "I hear you're a great one Zabini." You heard Draco choke on his drink and you leaned back laughing. "I'm innocent," You all laughed, "everyone here is pretty much innocent in that department." You thought. Just then food was being served and you all digged in, well you helped Draco considering he only had use of one arm.
