The day before the Yule ball you had picked out a nice black dress that came up and tied around your neck, it had beads that covered the front part and went all the way down to your feet. You picked out black high heels to match. The only reason you were going was because your parents asked you to, to watch everyone have a good time. For you to have a good time, but how can you have a good time when your mind was broken into different pieces? "No thanks to Bellatrix," you thought to yourself. You didn't have classes to attend to today so you sat in your room, which has been a constant in your life since the incident. While you were trying to read further in one of your textbooks you heard a knock at your door. You got up and walked to your door, opening it to reveal Axel. "Hello," He said in a deep voice. You hadn't spoke to him since before you went to the hospital. "Hi," he smiled at you. "So, are you going to the Yule ball tomorrow night?" He asked you, you raised your eyebrow. "If it's an invitation to go with Draco, you can tell him I'm going alone." You spoke clearly, Axel chuckled before continuing with his question. "He's actually going with another Slytherin he's been fancying recently. You know what you did to him really hurt him. He wouldn't tell me, which leaves me more curious than what I had began with. You know?" He was leaning on the doorway know, smiling wide at you. "Yes I do know, however what happened between me and him stays between me and him. He's vile and narcissistic. Now I have to get back to my studies." You backed away which made him straighten up. "Well let me ask you this question first," He pleaded, making you stop. "Go on with it then," "Will you go to the Yule ball with me?" "No." "Please? It won't even be a date. I just don't want to be seen all by myself." "No," "Why not?" "Because I said so!" You went to shut the door but he held it in place with his foot. "Come on, (Y/N). Just attend it with me and you don't have to do anything else. I promise." You sighed. "If I say yes will you leave?" He nodded his head and smiled. "Fine I'll go to the Yule ball with you." His smile got bigger, which you thought was abnormal since his smile was already so big. He quickly hugged you and walked down the hallway. You quickly shut your door hoping no one else would interrupt you.

Draco's POV
Draco hasn't slept much since you both had that fight. He was conflicted, he hadn't said anything to anyone. He even took it upon himself to find out who spread what to whom. His first thought was Pansy, but she denied it completely, but still he will find out. He was sitting on the couch, contemplatin his next move when Axel came bouncing down the stairs. "What are you so happy about?" He asked him, "What are you so grouchy about?" Axel retorted. "Did you ask her?" he shifted on the couch, laying out fully to look at Axel. "Yes I did," "What did she say?" "She said yes, who could resist me?" He laughed, making Draco smirk. "Remember the plan, just be her friend. Keep an eye on her until I find evidence." "Yeah I know," Axel said before walking out of the common room leaving Draco to himself. He was constantly in the common room, hoping to catch her walking out so he can talk to her. Draco was weary about that, considering she was so good at magic. He was normally supportive, but it was against him. He was laying there, staring up at the ceiling when he heard someone slowly coming down the stairs with a book in their face. "If you don't watch out, you'll fall if you read too closely." Draco said sarcastically, "Maybe if you did this more often you wouldn't be struggling in your classes, Malfoy." A female voice retorted back, Draco looked up at the girl watching her as she didn't look up and headed towards the door. "Can we talk?" "Definitely not." She said before making it towards the door. "Come on, (Y/N). Please, I need to tell you something." "What a new rumor? Trust me, the figured out how to make them whisper through the walls. They usually make new ones up around 1 in the morning. Which if we were still friends, you would know that I would be up because I don't really sleep to often. But we are not friends, so stop speaking to me." With that, she walked out the door. Leaving Draco with sad eyes and a breaking heart.

Instead of staying in the common room, Draco went after her. "Hey! (Y/N)! Okay you don't have to talk back but please just hear me out." She continued walking, head in her book. Draco ran to catch up with her, "Okay, first off. I didn't say a word to anyone but the nurse and Dumbledore about your condition. Even then I told them you had your nails too long and that you've been having progressively worse nightmares. Trust me, if I didn't spread the truth there just a little bit, they were going to send you away." "Knight in shining armour, aren't you?" She said rudely as she continued to read her book. "Maybe you should have let them send me there. Probably would have been much better there, maybe even found someone who wouldn't lie to me." She whispered the last part, Draco's cheeks turned red with anger but he chose not to saying anything about it. "Also, I've been searching for whoever started the rumours. I think it was Pansy in all honesty because you know how she is." "Just because she's a straight up bitch doesn't mean that she could do that, what she supposedly said has caused more scars than what I have right here." She showed him her wrist, stopping to look up at him with clear eyes. "I've contacted Bellatrix about the marriage arrangement and she said we no longer are in an arranged marriage as of right now. She would also propose this to The Dark Lord when he returns. I told her we worked better alone, and that if they wanted better results from me that I should be alone. Draco, please leave me be. I don't care about the rumours anymore, I just want to be alone." She finished, still giving Draco a blank stare. "There will be a meeting tomorrow night after the ball. They would like us to come, by the way." She said before opening her book back up and walking away from him. Draco stood in the hallway, watching her disappear down the long corridor before walking himself back to his room. He was defeated, until he wrote a letter to Bellatrix himself.
