You know that feeling you get when you undo your twenty-four twists and the results are bomb af? That's how I feel right now 😎! My natural hair is mid-back length when it's straightened, but when it's natural texture, it's armpit length. It's okay because when I stretch my curls, everyone is amazed at how long is REALLY is.
I don't wear makeup. Maybe I'll fill in my eyebrows, put on mascara, or put on subtle but cute lipstick but that's not often. That's every few weeks, maybe every two months. Why?
1. Makeup is expensive. I already spend too much money on JBCO, Shea Moisture, and Cantu.
2. I already wake up early to do my hair. I will not wake up even earlier to fleek my face.
I wore mascara today, though. I don't even have to fill in my eyebrows; they look like Natalia Castellar Calvani's (she is so beautiful!) when I don't pluck them. Today's outfit is a long sleeve dress shirt that's black on the torso and red on the bottom, denim boyfriend jeans, and red 1460 Doc Martens. I went downstairs and saw Papai making coffee. "Bom dia, Papai."
"Bom dia. I have to get to the hospital soon."
"What kind of patient?"
"Yesterday, this patient came in to the trauma room after getting in a boating accident. We had to keep him in the ICU to rest because he couldn't handle so much surgery. Today, though, we're going to bring him in the OR again."
"Well, with you as his surgeon, he has a fighting chance." I gave him a hug and then took his mug of coffee.
"Hey! Get your own mug."
"Papai, don't you know that too much coffee is bad for you? You'll get shorter."
He rolled his eyes and had his hand out and open for his mug. "You can't get shorter. It only stunts your growth when you're an adolescent, LIKE YOU."
"I'm 5'5". That's perfectly normal for my age. But fine, you can have it back. Only because you need energy to do your surgery." I gave him back his coffee and we high-fived. Mamãe came downstairs and put on her coat over her purple scrubs. Papai is a trauma surgeon and Mamãe is an anesthesiologist. They work at the same hospital, which is awesome. Then there was a beeping sound.
"Are you guys leaving now?" I asked.
"Yeah, sweetheart. The patient coded so we have to leave right now. Have a good day at school, okay?"
"You too...but at work. Bye, guys." They met in Universidade Estadual de Campinas,or Unicamp, for short as med students. Then they did their internship at Mount Sinai but decided to stay. Then they got married in 1995 and had little ol' me in 2000.
Ma is dark skin with black 4c hair, full lips, dark brown eyes and she's pretty skinny. Kinda like Meredith Grey.
Pa is light skin with curly 3a/b brown hair, light brown eyes, and he's built like Owen Hunt.
Little ol' me got his eye color and eyebrows, a mix of their hair and skin and her body type, nose and lips. I fixed some left over curry goat and jollof rice for breakfast, along with coffee.
