"So, are you single?" Fatima asked me while the three of us shared our breakfast again.
"Fatima!" Nina said with a shocked look.
"What? You nearly scared her to death yesterday."
"That's okay. And yup, single."
"Really? I figured you'd have a boyfriend waiting for you in Manhattan or something," Nina said.
Lol, boyfriend.
"Uhh...girlfriend, actually. I like boys and girls."
"Ooh. Did you guys break up because of your move--ah! I'm sorry. You don't have to answer if you don't want to."
I shook my head. "It's fine. Her name is Grace. It was more of her messing around with her ex-girlfriend a month before I moved away."
They're jaws dropped. Here comes the pity. I'm fine, though. I'm over it...kinda.
"Oh no. I'm sorry."
"Yup. She would constantly accuse me of cheating on her because I'm bi. It makes sense that she had trust issues because she was cheated on many times in the past."
"That's no excuse," Fatima told me.
"I know, I know. Anyway, Grace's ex-girlfriend, Lina, sent me screenshots of their conversations...their very EXPLICIT conversation and photos...so I confronted her, she confessed and begged me to forgive but no ace."
"Oh man. You deserve way better."
"It's ironic. Bi and pan people get accused of not being faithful but I got cheated on. I'm over her though. Don't block your exes. Let them see you do better." They laughed and agreed with me.
