Kiwi got suspended for two days.
I got another detention.
Stephanie and Shay got off scot-free. Why am I not surprised?
"Hey, I heard about what happened in your gym class." Victor was showing concern and I'm glad that he was. I needed to vent to a fellow black person.
Me: Ikr? I can't believe those two just got a warning!
Victor: so unfair
Me: I would've hit them if I had hands 👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿
Victor: hahaha 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Victor: poor kiwi tho
Me: 😭😭😭
Victor: but aside from what happened in gym, how are you?
Me: i'm doing good. My parents aren'd home, so I have time to myself before they lecture me. Wyd?
Victor: i'm babysitting my little sister
Me: aww! I didn't know you were a big brother!
Victor: yeah. She's five. Her name is Kalika
Me: wow, what a pretty name.
Victor: your name is pretty too 😉
Faint.
Victor: so, when do you wanna hang out again?
Me: hmmm...i'll have to check my schedule 😉
Okay, so this day wasn't that great in the beginning but it ended kinda great.
"Abidemi Sabrina Folami Dias! Come downstairs now!"
I spoke too soon. I went downstairs and saw Mamãe's arms crossed. She was tapping her foot and her face was stern. "H-h-hey....are those new scrubs--"
"Living room...NOW!"
"I cannot believe this. You have been in at that school for a month and already, you got a detention! For arguing with the teacher, no less! Para inglês ver!"
"It's not what you think--"
"Did I say you can speak? I'm going to call your grandparents and they will not believe this. Your father and I will talk about this when he gets home." She said something in Yoruba and started shaking her head. "Right now, just go to your room."
My goodness, you could've just told me this upstairs!!! I wish she let me defend myself! That's the thing about black moms: they NEVER let you defend yourself. Even if you CAN explain yourself, they don't wanna hear it. Black moms just want you to be punished....
I texted Victor back.
Me: welp, I got my lecture sooner than expected
Victor: oh no!
Me: black moms will yell at you and then gossip about you to your relatives. Relatable, huh?
Victor: uh, not exactly. my mom is white.
Me: oh. I mean, maybe all moms are like that...
Victor: yeah.
I have a feeling I made things awkward.
Me: so! i checked my schedule. I'm free this saturday!
Victor: cool! Do you like skating?
No.
Me: yes!
No!!! Estúpida! You appropriate skateboarding culture! You wear Thrasher every day and you've never skateboarded a day in your life! But this is different! It's Victor!!
Me: i love skating
Victor: great! There's a roller rink at the mall, if you're interested
Roller rink? Oh. He meant roller skating. At a rink! I'm down.
Me: totally interested
