Now it is lunch time! I have never seen such a big cafeteria!

They were serving lasagna, spaghetti, burgers, tacos, burritos, sandwiches, sushi, just...I COULD SCREAM!

OH MY GOD, THERE'S ICE CREAM! I SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!

SO MANY OPTIONS. SO MANY OPTIONS. The three of us went on the lunch line. Fatima took a grilled chicken salad, Nina took a hot dog, and I took a burger. With a diet coke. I have to watch my figure. We sat down at table 7 and started eating.

"WE'VE GOT SPIRIT! LET'S HEAR IT!"

That scared me. A group of cheerleaders wearing the school colors, purple and white, and holding purple and white pompoms. In the middle was a girl. She had blonde hair tied into a French braid, with a white ribbons tied at the end. Her eyes were icy blue. Her lashes were long. Her brows neat and perfectly arched (they looked like twins!) and she looked tall. Like 5'8".

"GO BEARS! GO, GO, GO BEARS! GO BEARS! GO, GO, GO BEARS!" Their synched routine was to a T. With the twirling, the spread eagles, and the finishing touch: the girl in the middle did a backflip. Everyone cheered and clapped. The squad took a bow and went back to their table.

"But that backflip, though," muttering to myself.

"Popular Stephanie." Fatima nudged my shoulder and beckoned at the squad captain. "Stephanie?"

"Head cheerleader, prom queen, debutante primadonna. Her mom is a former model from Geneva and her dad runs a five-billion dollar company." FIVE BILLION?! KA-CHING! Stephanie was showing her nails to her friends with a big smile. Whoa, those are celebrity teeth! "That's amazing."

"She's kind of..."

"Kind of what?"

Nina leaned in and whispered into my ear. "She can be really petty. Last month, she and this other girl on the cheerleading squad wore the same shoes. Steph made her change her shoes."

"Wheet???" They nodded to confirm that what was said was true. I couldn't help but notice that Fatima was staring at my burger, so I slid my burger to her so she can have a bite. "Heh? No, no, no!"

"Girl, if you want a burger, getchu a burger. If you wanna get some french fries, getchu a french fry!" She shook her head and slid my tray back to me. "Can't. I lost weight this summer and I'd like to keep it off."

"Oh did you? Congrats. How much did you lose?"

"Thirty-five pounds. At 16 years old and 5'3", I should've been 110 lbs. I was 145 lbs." She took out her phone and showed me a picture. It was her but bigger. Her now-chiseled face used to be chubby. She looked almost twice her size in the picture.

"Yup, that's me. FYI, Fit Tea does not work, but herbal tea does. You can also have whatever you want to eat to lose weight, as long as you don't consume too many calories. Plus, I want to have a healthy lifestyle. The cheeseburger looks really good but it's maybe 500 or 600 calories. Not filling and not nutritious."

I wasn't gonna purposely tempt her with the burger. She and her doctor knows her body. What do I know? I never watched The Magic School Bus. And what she said was actually very informative. Maybe I should eat more salads.

PSSSSHHHHH!!! Yeah, right! I don't eat gardens.

"SMILE!" There was a bright flash seen from my peripheral vision and also frightening me. Again. GEEZ, WHAT IS WITH SCARING THE NEW GIRL??!
