early mornings

As Thea looked at the alarm clock sitting upon the counter on the left side of her, she sat up in bed and sighed, looking around the room her and her boyfriend of five years, Lamarcus, shared.

Thea had a long morning yesterday, and had to drink at least five cups of coffee to keep her energy up, for she hadn't slept well in a week. At first, the many cups of coffee seemed like a good idea to boost her adrenaline, but little did she know that that many doses of the caffeinated beverage would keep her up during the hours she reserved for sleeping.

"I can't sleep, and there's literally nothing to do to make me tired," Thea spoke to herself quietly, chewing on her bottom lip to help her think of more things to do accordingly. Looking beside her, Thea found a snoring Lamarcus laying beside her peacefully, cuddled up into his pillow. Smiling softly, she decided, somehow, that it would be a good idea to wake him from his slumber so he could help her think of something to do, and maybe even join in the activity.

Nudging him softly, Thea whispered Lamarcus' name to wake him up, watching it as it had no effect on the man's slumber. Thea nudged Lamarcus again a bit harder, whispering his name once more, only to see it work to no avail. Giving it one last try, Thea nudged her boyfriend again, but this time, with extra force, "Lamarcus!"

Snoring one more time, Lamarcus blinked his eyes open quickly and sat up, looking over at Thea in a dazed fashion. "Are you okay, baby? What's wrong?" Lamarcus asked in a frenzy, looking at Thea and around the bedroom to make sure they weren't in any danger.

"Baby, I'm bored," Thea whined, poking out her bottom lip. Lamarcus' concerned face slowly turned into a look of annoyance, giving his girlfriend a straight face as he laid back down on his back, closing his eyes to go back to sleep again. Thea's jaw dropped as she slapped Lamarcus' arm, "Lamarcus! Wake up!"

Groaning, Lamarcus opened his eyes and watched as his cry baby girlfriend leaned over his face to stare down at him. "What, Thea?" Lamarcus sighed, rubbing his face. "I said I'm bored," Thea answered. "How about you go to bed?" Lamarcus suggested in a sarcastic tone, causing Thea to roll her eyes.

"I can't sleep.. I had too much coffee this morning."

"Didn't I tell you to lay off that stuff? How much coffee did you drink yesterday morning?"

".. Five," Thea whispered, causing Lamarcus to raise an eyebrow. "What did you say?" Lamarcus asked, not hearing a word that came out of her mouth, leaning forward to hear her better. "I said five, Lamarcus," Thea sighed shamefully.

Lamarcus' eyes widened, giving Thea a somewhat angry look, "You don't listen, do you? What did I say about that? It's no good for you, Thea. Why would you do that?"

"I had so much on my plate at work, and I hadn't had a decent night of sleep in a week, baby," Thea cried, frowning as she explained her dilemma to her frustrated partner, "I couldn't fall asleep on the job because I would lose clientele. No clientele means promotion, no promotion means no raise, and no raise means not enough money to pay for the things I need and want."

Sighing, Lamarcus sat up in the bed him and Thea shared, looking at her with tired eyes, "So what are you getting at, Thea?"

"Maybe we can do something to wear off all this caffeine that's built up in my body? There has to be something to tire me out," Thea stated.

"I'm too tired to fuck your brains out, so," Lamarcus shrugged, causing Thea to slap his bare chest, for he never wore a shirt when he went to bed— he never wore a shirt around the house unless there was company. "I didn't need you to 'fuck my brains out', baby," Thea said, using air quotes when she restated Lamarcus' statement.

"Yeah, sure you didn't," Lamarcus smirked, causing Thea to roll her eyes slowly, giggling softly. "You just think you're all that huh?" Thea asked, raising an eyebrow. "I mean, with you around, you constantly remind me. You spoiled me with all your compliments, baby," Lamarcus chuckled, pulling Thea close to him as she wrapped her arms around him, "So what do you want to do then?"

Turning her attention towards her alarm clock again, Thea saw that it read 2:30 a.m., causing her to look back at Lamarcus, "Well, its 2:30 in the morning.. What do you think we can do?"

"You totally cheated!" Thea huffed, slapping her cards down on the table. "You're just a sore ass loser; take ya' L, babe," Lamarcus said, taking all the cards back into his hands to shuffle them back up.

The couple was seated downstairs in their living room, on the couch, playing Uno. "No, you just always cheat in this game," Thea sighed, shaking her head as she watched Lamarcus shuffle the cards.

"How am I cheating if you're watching my every move the entire game?" Lamarcus asked, raising an eyebrow as he shuffled the cards on the table in between the two without looking. ".. You have a point," Thea confessed, giving her boyfriend a soft smile.

She adored the fact that Lamarcus got up to entertain her; she knew her man was exhausted, which made her feel bad for interrupting his peaceful slumber. He was so perfect for her, and the five years full of growth, love, and trust was proof of it. She knew the day would come where he would ask her to take his last name, and she couldn't wait until that day came, but for now, they were just enjoying each other as they usually did.

"You ready to get beat again?" Lamarcus said as he started passing out the Uno cards. "Beat? Never," Thea smirked confidently.

After another game, Lamarcus remained victorious, causing to Thea to whine the entire time Lamarcus put the card game away.

"Would you give it up? You just suck at Uno, baby," Lamarcus nodded, causing Thea to gasp. "I do not suck," Thea stressed.

"Yeah, okay," Lamarcus laughed, "You ready to do something else?"

"Yeah! Why don't we play 2k or something?" Thea answered as Lamarcus nodded in agreement, grabbing the game controllers and turning on his gaming system.

"Okay, but you can't say I'm chea—"

Lamarcus was caught off by the sound of light snoring coming from the couch, causing him to turn around, only to see his princess laying on the couch, knocked out cold. With a small smile, Lamarcus turned off his gaming system and put the gaming controllers away, walking over to Thea and picking her up bridal style.

"Sweet dreams, baby girl," Lamarcus whispered as he kissed her forehead softly, turning off the living room light with his right hand carefully, walking out the room and up the stairs, back into his and Thea's bedroom.

i hope you liked it, thea!
