"We're not gonna be able to make it to our dorms without getting caught, Kaiya. This was a bad idea from the start," Kaiya's best friend, Penny, whispered. The two had just come back from a fraternity party hosted at an apartment off campus by one of the upperclassman who was a member of the Alpha Kappas. It was now one in the morning, and the party had just ended; the girls were expected to be in their dorms by ten sharp, but the party was something Kaiya could not pass up. "Would you calm down? We're gonna be fine. The more you stress yourself out about the situation, the greater the chance it is for us to get caught," Kaiya whispered, tip toeing down the hallway of the dormitory.

Penny sighed and tip toed behind her rebellious friend, looking around the hallway to make sure a dorm advisor was nowhere in sight. Kaiya and Penny were two hallways down from their dormitory, and although it wasn't far, they had strict security lurking around every hallway at any given time. Kaiya knew her plan to sneak back into the dormitory wasn't well thought out, but it was now or never.

The sound of footsteps could be heard coming from the hallway in front of the two girls, causing them to both freeze in their places. Kaiya quickly took ahold of Penny's wrist and pulled her behind a wall, looking at her and putting her index finger to her lips to signal for Penny to be quiet. Penny gave Kaiya a fearful look as she looked at the wall in front of her, holding her breath to keep herself from panicking.

Kaiya slowly peered from the corner to see a dorm advisor making her way across the hallway slowly, looking around to make sure nobody was out of their dorm rooms. The dorm advisor averted her eyes in front of her, causing Kaiya too quickly hide herself back behind the wall. The sound of footsteps slowly grew louder, indicating that the dorm advisor was making her down the hallway Kaiya and Penny were currently standing in.

Penny's head snapped in Kaiya's direction once she heard the footsteps growing closer, causing Kaiya's grip on her wrist to become tighter. Kaiya had to fetch up a plan— quickly. Licking her lips slowly, Kaiya looked down the hall to her right to see if any doors that didn't belong to dorm rooms were in sight. Catching sight of one of the many janitor's closets, Kaiya decided to make a run for it.

With her hand still on Penny's wrist, Kaiya ran to the janitor's closet, opening the door and pushing Penny in, running in herself and closing and locking the door. She knew the sounds of footsteps would attract the dorm advisor, so she wasn't surprised when she heard the sound of running coming down the hall right as she locked the door. The dorm advisor made her way towards the janitor's closer slowly, causing Penny and Kaiya's breath to hitch. A sigh of relief escaped Kaiya's lips as she heard the dorm advisor's footsteps pass the janitor's closet and make their way down to the other hallway.

Kaiya looked back at Penny and could see her face that was full of worry from the light seeping through the small openings of the janitor closet door. "Remind me to find a new best friend," Penny spoke, causing Kaiya to roll her eyes slowly. "I'm irreplaceable; I'm not going anywhere, and neither are you."

"Can we just get out of here, Kaiya? I'm exhausted from dancing all night, and plus, I'm not trying to get that close to being caught again," Penny said sharply. Kaiya rose her hands up in defense, "Alright, alright. We're right down the hall, okay? The dorm advisor for our unit just left, so we have time to get out of here and to our dorm room." Penny nodded softly and watched Kaiya unlock the door and carefully open it; she looked both ways before slowly exiting the janitor's closet with Penny following closely behind.

Penny didn't even bother to close the door behind her, for she followed Kaiya to the left and down the hallway; at this point, the two were speed walking. The two finally reached the hallway of their dorm room and the look of relief on Penny's face was now evident, causing Kaiya to relax a bit more. Whenever Penny was stressed or nervous, it designated to her; she never let her physical traits show it, but she was easily susceptible to Penny's emotions.

Kaiya looked back at Penny as she walked, "See? Nothing to worry abou—". Kaiya fell to the floor next to Penny's leg after she felt a hard bump on her shoulder. Kaiya looked up at the tall male standing in front of her with an anxious look on his face. "Instead of standing there you could help her up you know," Penny scowled as she quickly lifted her best friend from off the floor, turning her attention back to the young man who seemed to be in the same year as them.

"I'm sorry, I'm just in a hurry to get back to my dorm. That frat party was something I could not miss, you know, since I am a member," the brown skinned college student explained. "You were at the party too?" Kaiya asked, raising an eyebrow, "I didn't even see you there." "I'm not the type that has to show my face in order for my presence to be known," he smirked, causing Kaiya and Penny to look at each other, then back to him. "You probably should since we don't know you," Penny said, shrugging and looking at Kaiya, "Can I have the keys? I'm not trying to stand out in this hallway only to get caught." Kaiya nodded as she fished the dorm room key from her pocket, handing it to Penny who happily took it, walking to their dorm room and unlocking the door, walking inside and closing the door behind her.

"I'm sorry for knocking you down, seriously."

Kaiya shrugged, "It's all good. Mistakes happen. I should probably get into my room before I get caught." Kaiya turned on her heel to walk away, but she felt a tug on her wrist, causing her to look back. "Uh, hold on. What's your name?"

"It's Kaiya. Kaiya Mitchell. What's yours?" she asked, looking down at the grip the boy had on her wrist. "It's D'Angelo. D'Angelo Russell," he said, releasing the grip he had on her wrist slowly. Kaiya softly smiled and nodded, "Well, nice to meet you. I'll see you around maybe."

"Yeah, you will.. I have Statistics with you in the morning," D'Angelo softly chuckled, catching Kaiya off guard. "So you've seen me before?"

"I have," D'Angelo nodded, "Only way to miss a beautiful face like yours is to be blind."

Kaiya couldn't help but blush slightly from his comment. She couldn't deny that he was a good looking man, and she did have a small obsession with men in fraternities, especially the Kappas. Biting down on her bottom lip softly, Kaiya slowly backed up towards her dorm room, "Then I'll see you in the morning, D'Angelo."

"You surely will, Kaiya," D'Angelo smirked, giving her a slight wave as he backed up towards the hallway of his dorm room. And with that, the two slowly turned around and made their way inside their dorm rooms for the rest of the night.

i hope you liked it, kaiya!
