Outside my room was an elephant who was sharp, witty, and — for the first time in years — a little dangerous. The elephant's name was Humphrey, and he had previously been soft and cuddly. Now he was covered with egg salad that had been out in the sun too long. I feared that it might have gone bad. Then I awoke, and remembered that I was a snail, with no toes, and so couldn't tiptoe at all." Sandra Snail then sadly left to spend the afternoon with Freda Frog.
