A century ago, I was just an average teenager. It wasn't always like this. I once had a family and a soul. But, in just one night it was all taken away from me. In the early 1900's my family and I went to watch a mozart performance...
Back in those days, vampires were considered as myths which were made up to scare folks.
Mothers tell their kids bedtime stories about these monsters but no one actually knew if the tales were true or rather mere fallacies.
After our daily routine of a typical Friday night, which entails the lot of us going out to see a show or a good movie then coming back home to have dinner and later on, father plays a few notes on the piano.
I always looked forward to this day for it was the one day we did things slightly differently.
Mother believed in monotony and that was exactly how we lived. Everything about us was the same. We even had certain clothes we wore on certain days.
Any normal person would have gotten bored of this life, but we weren't normal. We were the GREYS. The most prestigious and well respected family in town. We had everything anyone could ever dream of.
Until that night.
It started with our daily Friday show but as we were on our way back, our chauffeur was experiencing some difficulties behind the wheel because there was a thick fog that made it almost impossible for anyone to see. Father asked our chauffeur to go and find out the reason for the fog which poor old Albert reluctantly obliged to..
We waited for up to an hour and father was growing rather impatient. Mother tried her best to calm him down, but to no avail for he refused to remain calm and decided to go and search for Albert himself. Dear mother pleaded with him not to go but her pleas fell on deaf ears as Father made his way out of the car and disappeared in the fog. I couldn't tell how long we waited until we heard a loud thud coming from outside the wagon. Mother and I both got out to see what happened and to our horror we saw a gruesome image of Albert's lifeless body hanging limply from the top of a tree, blood dripping. Mother screamed in terror, as I watched in horror too shocked to make a sound. Then, I saw an outline of a man through the fog. He had an evil grimace, bloodshot eyes and white, exceptionally long canines with blood dripping from the corners of his lips which he licked off.
This part of my memory is foggy probably cause it happened so fast but the last thing I remembered before I was knocked out was that he he mumbled something that sounded like "not interested in younglings".
I woke up in a strange place. A part of the town that I've never been to before. Suddenly I feel a sharp pain in my ear. As the ringing sound increased, it almost knocked me off balance and I looked around in confusion trying to figure out where the sound was coming from. It took me a while to realize that the sound I was hearing must be coming from a distant town because my town was as silent as a graveyard. When the ringing ceased I struggled to stand up and was surprised to see so many tears in my suit. "mother won't be too happy about this" I thought to myself. Suddenly, realising that my parents weren't with me, I recalled the events of last night and the strange fog not to mention the stranger lurking in the shadows. Could that have really been a "VAMPIRE"?
My thoughts were interrupted by the sizzling smell I could perceive and it only took seconds for me to realise I was burning. It hurt like nothing I've ever felt in my life. It felt like I was being set on fire only this time it was literal......
It then dawned on me that my town must have been invaded by vampires and they probably killed everyone which explains the dead bodies scattered all over the place. But, they killed everyone but ME and the reason still remains a mystery to me!They also succeeded in ruining my life and turning me into the thing I hated the most. A bloodsucking monster "A VAMPIRE..........
I decided to just stay under the sun and desiccate to ashes since I had nothing left to live for but a new sense of hunger and resilience awakened the beast in me and I couldn't seem to control my movements as I zoomed off into the woods then jolted to an abrupt stop only to realise that I wasn't moving on my own accord, that I was denied the will to take my own life and behold to my utter amazement I came face to face with the most beautiful creature I've ever laid eyes on.
