She was as pale as the moon, her eyes as dark as the night. Everything about her was flawless except for the scowl on her face as she regarded me furiously.
From that day henceforth she became my guardian. She also explained that she was my sire as she was the one who turned me into a monster in the hopes of giving me a second chance at life but it was already too late for my parents. She concluded that another vampire must have killed them.
I was devastated on hearing that and I vowed never to rest until I found the vampire that killed my parents.......
For several years we've been searching for the vampire but to no avail.
BACK TO THE PRESENT DAY
Today is the 2nd of September 2016. In the present day, I live undercover in California as a normal citizen of America under the identity of Aidan Grey .
I keep changing names but I could never seem to change my surname because that's all I have left of my parents. I have been to various parts of the world with my sire *Maureen* but we never stay too long in a place to avoid people suspecting that we don't age and the fact that we barely come out in the daytime.Even though Maureen has a special potion from one of her many witch friends that helps to shield us temporarily from the powerful rays of the sun, We are still weakened by the Sun's power.
Apparently today is the first day of school. I have been to high school so many times that I seem to have lost count, but maureen feels that for some reason, this time would be different.
Maureen, 'Reena' for short, has become an inseparable part of me asides from the fact that we have a bond that holds us together. The sire bond. We have been traveling together for several decades and I have come to adore her, she is my family.
She was lucky to have been turned as an adult. At least, she had more privileges in the countries we've been to, but over our several years together of fighting demons and spiteful vampires side by side, we've come to see each other as equals instead of sire and siree and I've come to fall in love with her but over all the years spent together, I still haven't found a way to tell her but I have a good feeling that I wouldn't linger any longer this year.
I awoke early the next morning. The sun had barely risen and I wasn't able to get much sleep the previous day , I just kept recounting the memories I had left of my family to try and pass time......
By the time it was dawn, I was already prepared for yet another day as a mundane (human). I walked in stealth, my feet barely in contact with the floor as I made my way to the living room, only to see her beautiful face smiling at me as she tucked a loose hair behind my ear, "I almost didn't hear you coming" said Reena as she beamed at me.
"Hope your ready for your first day in school." I simply nodded as I walked over to the fridge to rummage for some food.
Some people think that vampires can't eat normal food. That's a stereotype, because we can actually eat normal food. It just doesn't hold much appeal to my kind.
Blood on the other hand, tastes much better and is more satisfying. So, I grabbed a blood bag from the stack of blood bags we collected from the Town's hospital, courtesy of one of Reena's many friends. I finished it in one gulp and gave Reena a quick peck and headed straight for the door but she zoomed right in front of me blocking my path and insisted that she drives me to school.
"You do know, you really don't have to go through all that trouble especially if I can drive myself to school" but she turned a deaf ear to my complaints. "stop whining and get in" she said, as she dragged me out with her to the car. She got in and started the engine.
"Quit treating me like a child." I scowled
"You know I'm way older than the oldest guy in this city" and with that I turned and started walking down the block.
Reena still persisted and kept following me with her car, "you know your really acting like a child now!""I was just trying to do something nice for you on your first day of school" she said while smiling, I turned to face her, "can you please stop saying that, its not like I am really going to school, am just going undercover to find the vampire who murdered my parents and I'm not even so sure if I would find him in a fucking high school" I retorted angrily. Reena stops the car, gets out and walks over to me. She puts a reassuring arm in my shoulder.
"I know how you must feel and I'm sorry but it's just that I wanted you to have a normal life for once, instead of running around searching for a murderer" She said, her voice filled with concern. I took a big sigh. Eventually, I agreed to join her in her convertible and together we drove off to EAST HIGH, hallow falls.
