Spiders And Foxes And Dogs...Oh My!

Jade's POV
I sighed again as i watched the two toddlers play yet another game of chess. The score so far was Alois 4, Ciel 3. Ciel was getting very annoyed at the fact Alois honed his chess playing skills during the 3 year silence. I was sitting in a chair with a book half read laid in my lap. My head rested upon my fist as it was propped up by my elbow. The two had been boasting about their successes during the past three years since the moment Alois suggested a game of chess. This childish conversation of my triumphs are better than yours now stretched to its third hour and i felt as if i would strangle the both of them if they didnt shut up. I extended a finger and allowed it to curve along my cheek as i said once again in an attempt to change the venue.

"Ciel darling... why dont we go to the garden and show Alois your new roses. Im sure he'd love to see them."

Ciel only grunted as he moved his piece. Alois however must have heard me because a sly grin formed on his lips as he lifted his eyes from the chess board and looked directly at Ciel saying cooly.

"New roses Ciel? That reminds me of our new expansion at Trancy Manor, we now have an entire back corner dedicated to midnight orchids and dark blue roses. I plan to send a bouquet of them to Jade as a present. After all they are her favorites..."

His gaze turned to me as he winked coyly while saying, isnt that right Jade. I rubbed my forehead as Ciel's fist clenched and he stood up abruptly.

"Come with me Trancy... allow me to show you our new roses... they are of Jade's special hybrids."

And they were off... leaving me alone with the grinning and chuckling butlers who all stood to the side. I looked at Lucius and the others and said annoyed.

"Arent you two giggling buffoons supposed to follow the toddlers?"

Claude and Sebastian shared an amused glance with each other before bowing at me and following pursuit after Alois and Ciel. I sighed as i opened my book again and tried to resume reading.

"Something weighs heavily on your mind... and i dont think its the bickering that troubles you."

I rested the book in my lap again as i looked out the window. I could see Ciel pointing at my private sector of the garden that grew my flowers as Alois kept teasing and instigating him by pretending to pluck a petal. I heard the click of his heels approach my chair slowly as i sighed.

"There is something off about Trancy.... and i feel as if someone is watching me.... waiting.... i've felt it ever since i threw that cursed ring. Lucius are you certain you know nothing about any other demons that were in town."

"Yes my lady... the only active demons about are myself, michaelis and faustus."

I touched my lip lightly as i held my chin in my hand. What was this feeling digging at the back of my brain... Alois's eyes caught mine and a smile formed on his lips. He blew a kiss to me and i felt sickened as i smiled back kindly offering a small wave. When he looked away the smile was wiped away. All i felt now was emptiness.

"I grow tired of this mundane ritual i must now endure... marriage isn't joy and happiness its a prison and confinement... An inconvenience and deterrent from my goals just as i stated before.... Why on earth did i ever marry Lucius.. I was perfectly happy and content with the visits Ciel would give me during our courtship. Now i feel obligated to give him my presence at the sound of a bell."

I felt his hand rest upon my shoulder. I looked at it and saw the star... I closed my eyes and then looked back out the window as he spoke calmly.

"If i recall it is because you thought that this would be a boon to your work. The appearance of an everyday noble wife while still keeping your ruthless image to the underground."

"And now...."

"Your image remains untarnished but your focus has become distracted. You arent able to immerse yourself in your work my lady... I find you work best at the manor..."

My eyes widened slightly as i looked out at the distance... a shadow moved so fast... what was it. I stood up and said lowly.

"Lucius... there is something in the distance... go see what it is."

He bowed and left my side swiftly... I only wondered if i had been stalked by the one person i had been trying to find... and if so how did he find me before i found him.

Lucius's POV
Damn... i didnt get to finish planting the idea in her head... i have to rely on faustus and michaelis to help me achieve this mission. I pushed a branch aside and examined the ground.. it was disturbed like someone had been standing here for quite some time. No scent of a mortal soul so it wasnt human.

"the master wishes to have the lady yes he does.... she would be better made with silver and gold... yes yes silver and gold would best compliment the lady of the bridge."

I turned as my eyes flashed to their demonic form and stared at the dark shadow next to the tree. I felt a smile creep across my face as i chuckled lowly feeling my possessive nature subside.

"your master is unable to steal her away without the ring puppet master... besides your master should be seeking the phantomhive boy... not my mistress."

A tall man with orange hair and paint on his cheeks and eyes emerged from the dark. He tilted his head slightly and a wooden clank could be heard as he said monotonously.

"master already tried to get the boy many a year ago... but the crow flitted him away. Master knows of when to get the boy but the girl is in his way... the girl must be gone before master can take the boy."

I raised my brow and scoffed.

"mistress will leave soon... stay away from this manor... be gone puppet."

The puppet master left in a flash and i returned to the manor. Except when i reentered the manor i saw Alois and Ciel fighting with each other as Jade stood to the side between michaelis and faustus with an obvious annoyance.

"ENOUGH!!!"

Her voice boomed through the manor causing the two men to stand at attention. I myself found that i rushed over to my mistress promptly as Sebastian and Claude stood at attention with their masters. She sighed angrily clenching her fists.

"I am going to dress for dinner... i expect dinner to be ready by 8 o'clock Michaelis... Faustus i want the dining room spotless and set for dinner for three. Ciel you will be dressed and sitting at the head of the table. Alois you will be sitting in your assigned seat. If this is not what i return to... there will be trouble. Am i understood?"

All four men before me bowed at her and said simultaneously.

"Yes Lady Shadowhive..."

She nodded her head and then proceeded up the stairs ordering me to follow. I couldnt help but chuckle amused as i followed her to her room.

Ciel's POV

I had finished getting dressed very quickly out of fear that i would anger Jade further... as i sat in my chair i glared at Trancy... how dare he buy a ring for her as a birthday present.... it isnt fair that i keep getting in trouble as the bad guy when alois is the one causing all the mischief..

"Its your fault you know.."

I said bitterly to alois.. He only scoffed rolling his eyes as he played with the fork.

"Oh be quiet if anything im the only one she feels calm around... you cheated and you know it... you kept stealing her away before i could have a chance to woo her..."

"She kept coming back to me by her own accord... you frightened her and your perverted butler cornered her. You drove her away all by yourself Trancy..."

I clenched the arm of my chair and was ready to have another argument when i heard the doorknob jingle and both of us clamped our lips shut as Jade entered the room.

Lucius had a hand on her shoulder and she walked forward and sat in her chair and said calmly.

"Now then... we will have a calm and pleasant dinner... and after i go to bed you may return to yelling and clawing each other's eyes out. Deal?"

I looked at Alois and we both nodded before agreeing to this arrangement... only i knew i would be landing some serious blows on alois after he gave her that ring during tonights meal.
